firsttimedisn Posted June 21, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2021 We are scheduled the second week of sailing on Freedom and have kids and teens that will not be vaccinated. Has there been any information released that I have missed about what ship activities will be off-limits? I'm assuming all the kids club stuff will be normal because that group will primarily be unvaccinated, but what about teen activities and comedy shows, trivia, games, etc? This is not intended to be a debate regarding vaccination status or requirements. I'm simply trying to determine how much of the evening entertainment activities will be available for our older kids and teens who are unvaccinated before the July 2 sailing returns to hopefully avoid making a very last minute decision about sailing or canceling. The evening entertainment and the promenade area is a large part of what we enjoy about cruising. Thanks in advance!

smplybcause Posted June 21, 2021 #4 Share Posted June 21, 2021 No one will know how it goes until a sailing goes. But some venues and events will be vaccinated only so there will be an impact. If they like the shows there will only be a few showings they can go to. No one knows which and when venues will be vax only. I would venture it could be a lot since Royal is wanting to discourage unvaccinated people
smokeybandit Posted June 21, 2021 #5 Share Posted June 21, 2021 On Adventure, the theatre is pretty much off limits to everyone due to how many seats they have blocked off.

Yeah....I thought the theater would be only for the vaccinated, too. I originally heard they were going to have a separate section for those who are unvaccinated, and the majority of the theater for those who are vaccinated. But now, it sounds like Royal is just going to limit the venues available to unvaccinated passengers. Clearly, Royal is limiting the cruise for those who are unvaccinated. Sunshine3601 Posted June 21, 2021 #7 Share Posted June 21, 2021 No one knows yet what exactly the restrictions for unvaxxed people will be yet and even when they are announced there will be constant changes to the protocols.
forgotmyCCname Posted June 21, 2021 #8 Share Posted June 21, 2021 There is some information for July Freedom cruises on the Royal website but it is not very specific. The things that stood out was the separate dining room for non-vaccinated passengers and no " My Time Dining"; there will be some shows were vaccine is required and others where all passengers can attend. I hope it works out and that you can enjoy Freedom. She is really a fun ship!
Rare orville99 Posted June 21, 2021 #9 Share Posted June 21, 2021 Presumably you will receive an email or other correspondence with the protocols and policies in place for your cruise approximately 30 days prior to your sail date. I doubt they will spell out which venues fall into a vax/non-vax category (other than things like MDR seating choices) until you are actually on board. From what has been published so far it appears that it is not so much which venues are restricted (i.e. theater performances) but which performance days/times are restricted to one group or the other.

I'm willing to wager that y'all will be able to visit any & all venues & shows but they will be based on certain time frames. Vaxed at one time, nonvaxed and vaxed at another. Enjoy your cruise.
kearney Posted June 21, 2021 #11 Share Posted June 21, 2021 I was thinking that perhaps late shows for vaccinated..since most non vaccinated likely to be children. Perhaps late dining for vaccinated... for the same reason. Bars, spa, gym, casino for vaccinated (again focusing on adults)... solarium pools... perhaps bars on the promenade open for all... but Schooner and what used to be Viking lounge, champagne for vaccinated... more easily contained areas... just a thought...

IDK....this whole idea of segregating vaxxed and un-vaxxed seems like a really good idea if you are vaxxed. Not so good for the un-vaxxed knowing that everyone they are mingling with could possibly be spreading Covid. Seems like it is MORE risky for un-vaxxed people on a cruise ship in those un-vaxxed areas than it is on land where there is a mixture of vaxxed and un-vaxxed people. Sorry if this was not very easy to follow but I know what I meant to say. LOL. 6 1

I know that every though we can go anywhere, we tend to mingle with and get to know the others in the Suite areas. That being said, sometimes the suite areas aren't "the best". The Suite-only seating in the theater - pass. Suite-only sun deck - too far from pool. Special times on the Flow-rider and others - hardly. We will need to see how they(and if) they do it. gadaboutgal Posted June 21, 2021 #16 Share Posted June 21, 2021 On Freedom it should be very easy to set up the dining room as Vaxed/Unvaxed/Mixed as there are three decks. Currently on Adventure, the theater is so restricted in numbers that there the same shows are presented over and over again in the week. I think there would be an easy way to again reserve certain shows for V/U/Mixed seatings.

Virus isnt circulating easily anymore and everyone whos not vax is tested prior. Virtually a better chance of getting hit by lightning twice on your cruise vs getting covid. But protocols prolly wont change much during first few sailings. Agree, way land based restrictions have been ending so fast last month ship Restrictions will also end soon. As I've said many times last yr, longer takes from Reg Cruises to start quicker Cruises will be back to Pre-CV normal

I understand the hesitancy, but I also hope we have one foot also on the throttle and a hand on the stick, ready to get going in a hurry.

gadaboutgal Posted June 22, 2021 #24 Share Posted June 22, 2021 I'm guessing that Suite guests will be treated as special as always-including providing the "unvaxxed" with their own special areas.
