Is this possible?! Price almost doubled?

Wow - after all the talk about credits for price reductions, I decided to check the price for the Aug 5 Victory sailing (4 nights NY - Canada).

I booked a 9A about a month ago for $949 - it now shows as minimum for outside balcony $1789!

Is this common? I can't believe anyone would for over that amount pp for a 4 night cruise ...

I'm still showing $949 for a 9A from Carnival's TA site. Minimum balcony is $749 for an 8A.

I checked through Expedia - and have now gone back several times and each time gotten completely different information! Now it shows it back at the original price. I guess their site was screwed up this morning ...

It does happen though when prices go that much higher. Look at the price for the Legend out of NY to Nowhere it Oct. Last year that cruise was selling for 199pp for an inside. same cabin is now 419.00pp

I kept checking for a reduction on our cruise, and it kept rising or staying about the same. The last time I checked it, my jaw dropped, though!

A balcony gty. went up $1350/person! Glad I upgraded when I did!

The word is that prices will be climbing steadly throughout the year. Seems to be more than rumor.

This is normal, the closer you get to your cruise date usually the prices go up. The only time that I have seen this to be different is right after 9/11 my cruise price dropped.

That is not the norm. The price going up is rather the exception and not the rule. That is why there are so many popular threads here about trying to get upgrades/shipboard credit for drops in price for those who have already booked.
