This is what we did on our two medallion voyages. Worked fine. Most times never had to remove it from our pockets, staff was able to read it and most times the door unlocked.

If one is interested in the environment, in my opinion, Cruise Vacations are way, way down on the list of activities.

 

Also, the medallions contain a coin-cell battery.   They are intended to last longer than one cruise,

but no one knows how much more...

 

If the battery were replaceable, it would be another  failure point for passenger use, and it would make the

device itself less reliable.

Any experience issues getting their travel documents entered?  I have all other categories filled out and check marks showing but every time I try to put in my passport or birth certificate information it just keeps telling me "We're sorry, the OCEAN network is having some difficulty. We cannot access your details."  I called the 1-844 princess number and they couldn't help me, the answer was to download the app on a different phone or download it again.  Both of which I did and it still doesn't work.  Do I just show up at the port with my documentation and not worry about it?  Thanks in advance, first time dealing with this so new to me!

I had difficulty getting our passport information entered too. It took me trying for a week before it finally accepted the scan and photo. I first used my iPhone 8+ and had no luck. I also used an iPad 6th generation and also had no luck. After 1 week I tried using my husband’s iPhone X and at first I got the error message but then I hit “retry” and it accepted his passport. I was then able to enter my passport on his iPhone X. So long story short….keep trying and use multiple devices to try and get the information entered. It shouldn’t be this difficult.😣

I wonder if they just cobbled together the apps that used to be separate. I thought they had rewritten a more integrated app, but maybe not. Interfacing different apps with a variety of data sources is a recipe for disaster.

Same problem here. Called Medallion Support and was told that I would be getting a call from their IT specialist to "solve the problem." Still waiting for that call. Actually the lady representative was very polite and VERY honest. She stated that they are more than aware of the multiple problems with the app. Told to simply put in the information that we're able, print off luggage tags two weeks before  our August cruise, show up at the port at assigned time and go through the blue line so that anything missing for boarding can be added by the port side staff. She stated that "they" are very much aware of how many will be in the blue line!!

So this might be a dumb question but I'm not getting an option to "scan" my passport in.  Is this something obvious that pops up?

Thanks, makes me feel better that I'm not the only one with this particular issue.  I would consider myself pretty savvy when it comes to technology but this is pretty crazy! 32 more days!

Yep, apparently we'll see you onboard in Seattle on the 8th!! I've gotten over the initial frustration with this Medallion thing. Been on 34 previous cruises with many different cruise lines and never had any problems previously. I really don't see the value of the Medallion but, to each his own. Happy cruising to all.

I have no idea of how to do this. Never have scanned anything on my phone. Where do you find the step by step instructions?

Has anyone else had problems with the app on a Samsung Galaxy Tab A?

The app worked in Feb 2020 but how freezes at the log in screen.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of the app with no better results.

I think the problem is that the new App is cobbled together from other Apps. I just tried so I could tell how it worked for me but now when I get to Travel Documents I just get three lines Security Photo, Pin Number, Profile Photo. So I think the other module is not responding.

 

Scanning worked easily for me, pressed Scan Passport and camera opened up, I focused on passport and it clicked - don't think I had to press the Camera button.

The scan utterly failed on my Samsung S10e.  After it bombed out I was prompted to manually enter all of my passport info. I never got to a place that would let me try the scan again so I gave up on it. I manually entered the info for my passport and also for my wife's. I get the green check mark anyway so I guess I'm good to go.

I was able let the app use my camera, held it over my passport forever and it finally said scanned - then it told me to take a picture,  I did and it said confirm you passport number, I did and it said cannot upload to ocean-ready or whatever.  Worst app ever

Issues I am having with the app:

 

1) Cannot access arrival groups for an August 1st sailing.  (*CAN* access the section for a later cruise, but it tells me it's too early.  I can accept that.)  I just get a "Loading" indication and the app TOTALLY locks up.

2) I just renewed my passport.  I had posted my old passport and scanned image.  I "removed" the existing passport info (supposedly) and then I had to manually the new passport info using keyboard as others have stated.  Oops!  Although I "removed" my old passport, it retained the scanned image of the old with the new keyboard-entered info.  No way to upload a new passport image.

3) Cannot edit my basic "Personal Info" such as phone number or nickname.  It let's me enter any changes I like, but then will not let me "Save".

4) Section 1 "Personal Information & Documents" shows all green checks yet back at the OceanReady Profile screen item #1 is blank...no check.

5) MedallionPay section is completely filled out yet same as above, Profile screen does not show a green check.

6) At one point I *was* able to order my medallions (I *think*).  I have a green check (my one and ONLY) for that section.  However, if I try to go back into that section to confirm anything, I get a solid white screen and the app locks up.

 

All of the above is experienced on multiple devices.  I guess I'm just going to have to keep my fingers crossed that they will let me on the ship! 😆

I had the same experience.  I think the problem is that peopke think they need to scan the whole passport, whereas you just need to line up the coloured horizontal section on your device with the "bar code" on the bottom of the passport page containing your photo.

I just watched the Medallion video and it shows the APP gives you the option to scan your passport, my APP does not give that option and I just downloaded it 2 weeks ago on 3 different devices.  It's very strange that I don't have the "scan passport" option that is referenced in the video.  I just keep getting the message Content Unavailable: We're sorry, the OCEAN network is having some difficulty and cannot access your details.   I've tried all 3 of my family members and it won't accept any of our information, passports, drivers license, birth certificate, nothing.  I think I'll just be showing up with my documentation at my assigned time and they will have to deal with it at check-in.  So much for expediting things!

Sorry, that's a long list of issues you are dealing with.  I don't have that many so I guess I'm grateful for that.  I'm going to try and forget the problems with the APP (although I like things to be buttoned up before vacationing) and assume there will be many others in the same situation and it will all get dealt with at embarkation. 🙂

I did this a few weeks ago so it’s possible the app may be having problems now with the passport information. When I did it I received a prompt to scan my passport using the camera on my phone. The app had me focus the camera on the bottom of the passport under my photo and it was able to enter all my passport information into the app. But you need to double check it as it changed the Y’s in my name to V’s. After I changed and verified the information was correct the app asked me to take a photo of the passport. That was it…..a 2 step process and the app walked me through the 2 steps.

I just bought an apple air tag holder and the medallion fits in there fine.

Grr! Okay so managed to upload most of information and even scan our passports but for the love of me it won’t let me upload a creditor debit card - tried multiple cards on both hubby and mine bookings with no joy! Anyone else had this issue. It keeps telling me to check details and retry!
