Budget Rental Cape Canaveral

We always fly into MCO at least a day before our cruise.  We are cruising Mardi Gras at Christmas and I am looking for a good discount code.  Problem is there are 7 of us!!!  I see the 12 pas van is now over $600!!  We like to have the freedom of a rental and not any of the shuttles.  Any suggestions?

There is a shortage of rentals in a number of locals. In addition holiday periods are another complexity. Perhaps shuttles are solution.

Yes!

The shortage of rental vehicles now has been featured on local news in Florida.  In addition to the financially troubled operators reducing their fleet size, some are unwilling to pay the high cost of new vehicles.  Even if they do get the vehicles, staffing for the cleaning facility is often in short supply.

There is a massive shortage of vehicles to rent. There are multiple reasons why that compound the issue. Rental companies sold much of their fleets to manage cost. The 20-50% increase in price of used cars has limited went rental companies can buy. The sudden increase in demand for vehicles has jacked the prices up immensely. Although getting better where my neighbor's son is, they still have the issue of 200-300 rentals a day with only about 80 cars available. The next in line can accept what is available or leave. Families needing a giant SUV have the option of taking a Kia Sol or no car because the person behind them will take the Kia Sol. The customers complaining and nothing they can do because there are simply no vehicles in. When they do come in, the customer has a choice to take as is without being cleaned. Otherwise, it can be hours before the car is cleaned out. They have one person cleaning, one processing dropoffs, and one processing new rentals. Adding more workers won't change it because the website is renting more vehicles than inventory. There is nothing they can do and a sign out front before entering explains it.

I hope things get better. We'll be looking for two rentals for our extended family from MCO to Port Canaveral hotel for our 2 night pre-cruise stay end of April 2022.

Th supply of people to process and clean cars will probably improve before the supply of cars improves.

rental car firms like deeply discounted fleet prices, and it may be a while before car makers are willing to talk about deep price cuts.
