It's next to that Magic Carpet thing. It is the usual Sky suite but we have a very large balcony and we have the remote window curtain and lights gadgets.

Thank you.  We were in 7222 when we were on the Edge (regular IV) and could see over to the cabins "inside the tracks" of the Magic Carpet.  Figured they were suites given the size of the balconies but no idea what category they were.

It depends on what you call a good location.  The S3's are by the magic carpet, have the beds by the side wall, along with no magic see-through window to the ocean from the bathroom.  You can have this open or closed.  The S2's has the magic windows with the beds facing the ocean.  S1's also have the beds facing the ocean with the magic window, but have a more centered location.  14 of the S1's are corner aft suites on decks 6-12.  They have the bed facing the wall, but with a huge balcony overlooking the wake, along with a higher price.  Also, these suites share a small hallway(foyer) with the cabin next to it and provide  a longer walk to venues on the ship.  So, your choice and price range!  The best views and huge balconies, IMHO, are the S1 corner afts...but if you want the magic window and the bed facing the ocean, book an S2.  Take a look at the decks to visually see what I am talking about. Also, look at the cabin reviews for all the Sky Suites before you make your choice.  In other wards, do your homework and choose based on your own criteria of what's important to you!

Yes good point about what each person considers a good location!  You are a wealth of information Lastdance and I very much appreciate your insight with regards to these cabins.  If we decide to move forward with booking a suite, I am definitely reaching out to you for more discussion/any other questions to help in choosing a great cabin!  😊   Thanks again!

We are docked in Cozumel.  Been here many, many times.  Probably disembark and wander around a bit.

Let me get some housekeeping out of the way…..

First, my apologies for dissing the “Pharmacias”.  They certainly have needed meds that cost significantly more in the U.S.  To make a blanket insinuation that they’re somehow less than the pharmacies in the U.S. was wrong of me.  Mea Culpa!

Talked to an officer last night at length.  They are very visible and they are just about everywhere, and always able to assist. I think he had some affiliation with hotel operations.  A few facts…

There are about 1,500 passengers on board.  There are about 900 crew on board.  All crew are vaccinated.  He confirmed that all adults on board are vaccinated.  He wasn’t sure about how many kids under 16 were sailing but said it was probably around 20.

Bottom line, at these first cruises happening after shutdown are going to have vaccinated adults on board. I asked what was done with unvaccinated adults.  He said they have to follow the protocols of masking and additional testing and that it would be notated on their key card as well as reminders sent similar to reminders people get about completing the safety drills.

I’ll probably do a whole series of separate posts about the food.  Suffice to say, in no way, shape or form have I been disappointed.

Someone asked about EDEN entertainment last night.  It’s not the free form acts I had read about, but actually was a quite good jazz quartet.  Do they provide different entertainment on different nights or different times of the night?  Don’t know.  For me, it was the jazz quartet.

I got to the jewelry store last night to spend ALL THE OBC for my very understanding, hardworking and loving GF.  Hope she likes it/them.

Lastly, when was the last time you guys saw this stuff?  I didn’t think it was still made after it’s heyday with the “clubbers” a decade or two ago…….

My experience on EDGE was that most of the shops were pretty much empty of customers and charged insane prices.  That was when the ship was full on my sailing in 2019.  Still the same?

Are you now allowed to disembark and free roam without a "curated experience"?

The only ones I’m seeing are the Celebrity curated and approved tours.  I think this is as much a Cozumel rule as it is a Celebrity rule.

To be more exact, this is the exact wording Celebrity posted this a.m. on my app…

”Guests may leave the ship if they are taking Celebrity-curated tours.”

It goes on to say how these tours are outside and follow their “healthy-at-sea” protocols.

Hope that helps.

From the webpage:

Western Caribbean
On your own tours are permitted in Nassau
Celebrity curated tours are required in Costa Maya, Cozumel and Roatan

Well…the shops certainly weren’t crowded…just the opposite.  Prices?  I really don’t know.  I mean what is a competitive price for a leather wrist band with your name in beads?  How much is too much to soak your feet in a tank of fish that feed on your skin?

Prices for alcohol seemed competitive to what’s on board.  Jewelry?  Not sure.  That pricing is meant to be super confusing by design.

Diamonds International still have sales people who follow you around from the time you enter, until the time you leave.  That hasn’t changed!

Thanks, rules can change at any time and while its not listed for Costa Maya you are allowed to walk off the ship and explore the pier area only even without a ship tour.  Was wondering if anything changed with Coz since he said "Probably disembark and wander around a bit", can't wander around while on a ship tour.

I misread your post.  I thought you were referring to the shops in Costa Maya.

To me, Tiffany is always way overpriced, on the ship, in Chicago, in NYC, etc.  Ask a female and she’ll tell you their quality supports their prices.  I really don’t know.  I think ALL jewelry is overpriced regardless of where it’s sold.  There’s just no way to compare apples to apples with jewelry.  Jewelers have given me a magnifying loop to look at their wares.  I still fon’t know what I’m looking at, and I doubt 99% of us wouldn’t either.

i know what my GF likes.  I’ll spend the money to get it for her because I care for her and she deserves it.  That’s all I know!

That was NOT me who spoke about the pharmacies.  I use Mexican pharmacies for all my medication needs.  I only spoke about the laws in certain Mexican states regarding mandatory mask-wearing.  I believe it was the OP who distrusted the Mexican pharmacies.  We like being able to get many of our formerly prescription meds without a prescription in our chosen locale.  And I pay less for them than the co-pays I had to pay in the US.

I knew it wasn't you--but I figured your POV as a current resident was more accurate than others' perceptions.

We have purchased 800mg tablets of ibuprofen in MX for less than we would pay for 200 mg tablets.

DM is an RN & had no issues buying them.

I would not buy anything illegal in US though.

We will be on the Oct 2 cruise. We are a party of 3 families (6 people). We'd like to dine together , but was told that because one of the family (2) is booked through the Casino deal, they cannot link our restaurant reservations together. So as it stands right now: for each night, we have 2 separate reservations - one for a table for 4, and one for a table of 2.

- Does someone know on Day 1 when we board, where do we go to find the maîtreD or food manager to link our reservations together to make a table for 6? We have reservations for each of the specialty restaurant plus MTD. So I hope I do not have to run around to each if the restaurant to hunt someone down to make this arrangement.

- Does anyone happen to know the dining room co-ordination's email where I can email them a few days before departure, to make this arrangement?

Thank you!

Didn’t have the seafood tower, but my sashimi and shrimp tempura were quite good.  Will have pics to come.

Just returned from dinner at EDEN.  All I can say is WOW!  Will have more reviews and pics later and talk about them both more.

Yay, looking forward to your Eden dining review

Does anyone know, for sure, if the upper part of the window opens in a Deluxe Porthole with Veranda?

We just booked this type of porthole balcony cabin on the Apex and from the pictures I've seen, it sure looks like it's a regular balcony (plexiglass on the lower have with a wood railing and open on top) rather than a window that opens. In fact I would be super bummed out if it wasn't anything but a normal balcony.

There's a POV video in this thread.

Do the Deluxe Porthole View with Veranda Cabins on the E-Class Ships have an outside balcony? - Celebrity Cruises - Cruise Critic Community

No upper glass.  While it's basically normal, they are not as deep which is why the chairs are sideways/two will face each other and due to the porthole, it'll feel more enclosed compared to a typical balcony.  These are generally cheaper than IVs.  Pros and Cons to them but at least you can both keep the AC on the room on and blackout the room while enjoying the balcony.  Here's a sub-90 second YT video:
