I ordered RAINDROPS, ENLIGHTENING, COVE, MANGALISTA AND LOOKING GLASS.  The “petals” desert at the end was thrown in…..just because….

Service was great.  Food was great!  If you’re going to do ANY on specialty restaurant on the EDGE, make it this one…..

Thanks for the wonderful Edge review, menu and photo.  I'd very much appreciate if you can post menus for the other specialty restaurants -- Petit Chef, Rooftop Grille and Fine Cut Steakhouse.

Enjoy the rest of your cruise.  We are going in November. 🙂

Thanks!!

EDEN……

As mentioned, they have traditional entertainment….when I was there, it was a jazz quartet….quite good.

I also enjoyed a cocktail prior to going downstairs to the restaurant.

I was on the week before , really enjoyed all the music at Eden and also by the Martini bar , but Eden has the killer views .

Well done, Celebrity!

Looking for your POV on a Suite. Taking DM76 on the 31st. She is battling cancer; just finished treatment & we truly do not know what the prognosis at this point. She is feeling good now so we are GOING. She has done numerous cruises, several on Celebrity, has sailed interiors to suites.

She has never been on the Edge. We are booked in an SV. I know she will love the ship.

I could bid on an upgrade--would be at least $2K to move to a Sky Suite (if accepted).

SO this upgrade gets us--priority boarding (Nice but her time is boarding time is 1:30) bigger room (we aren't in the room that much...), personal service, Retreat area (though seems crowded since Suites seem to be selling out--when the rest of the ship is at half capacity...) plus Luminae (great but she has never tried the 4 MDRs & I think she would like Eden).

Is it worth $2K+ more? I realize that is subjective depending on the person but looking for thoughts.

(we can afford it; we usually prefer to sail more often)

Thx.

Even though suites were sold out on our cruise last week definitely  I think it’s worth it , Luminae and the retreat were great . Staff in both places are top notch. By the way if I would do one specialty restaurant it would be Le Petit Chef fun show but 55 per person.

@graphicguy, I am not much of a jewelry gal (I’m on my 30th anniversary trip, and didn’t even bring my wedding ring). However, I am very touched by the way you talk about your girlfriend and how much effort you have put in to making sure to get something special for her that she will like.

Thank you for taking us all on your journey.

I haven’t sailed in a suite on Edge, but I’d say stay where you are.  The 4 MDRs are such a neat concept…all differently decorated and different menus…I loved it!

You could call Celebrity and ask about an earlier embarkation time due to your mother’s condition.  I’m sorry she’s going through this…my mother did as well.

Here’s my teeny rant.  The rake is 15% (up until $150/hand).

Seriously?  So, my winnings were really $700 without the rake.  I get it.  The dealer has to be paid, and the casino needs to make money.  But, that’s a $100 rake just from me.

As far as i know, The rake for poker (cash game) on ALL Celebrity ships is 10% up to $15.

so max rake will be reached if the pot is $150+

As far as the entertainment goes, it was well described by the earlier poster. It is worth mentioning that all the entertainment staff did an excellent job on our 7/3 sailing, including the background team who we never see. One person that is worth a mention in our books, is the DJ / Producer / Music Director who was in every location we visited - DJ Dragan! His choice of music met the needs of the setting and crowd in every location, from the Martini Bar and all other music venues we visited. We were very impressed by his music selection and his professionalism. Having been involved in the DJ / club music in the 70's and 80's, I have to say, I was impressed. Stop by if you are on an upcoming cruise and say Hi! Just say the Scotsman liked your work, he'll know who you mean!!

I appreciate both of your thoughts.

I know DM would like to try all the different MDRs & I think she would like Eden.

I think once cruises are sailing more full & we have experienced Edge once that a Suite will have more value.

Will have more info later about the Retreat and cruise in general.  Understand, I got very lucky.  I ended up with somewhere around $2,500-$2,600 in OBC, and am getting $425 back from my TA.  Granted, I gave all the OBC back to Celebrity for gifts and specialty dinners, so aside from the $425 TA rebate, I still spent money. But, I am bringing back a nice gift for the GF in return.

Looking at it from that perspective, minus the OBC and rebate, I’m in this cruise, sailing in a very nice Suite for around $3K.  Was that worth it?  Absofreakinlutely.

I had booked this with the total amount in mind, though, when two of us were cruising.

Frankly, I never lifted a finger.  Need dinner reservations made?  Done.  Laundry needs tending to?  Done.    Coffee in the a.m.?   Done.  Cabin refreshed every day, twice/day?  Done.  Private, calm areas  away from the crowds to hit the pool or have a drink?  Easy!  What are those things worth to you?  And, what would they be worth to your Mother?

You are correct.  I misspoke.  The rake is 10% up to $15.  I misunderstood our dealer.  Thanks for the clarification.

Another small, meaningless factoid I’ve noticed……and this in no way has any bearing on how I’ve enjoyed this cruise, but the crew I’ve encountered, from my cabin steward, to the person cleaning tables and stair rails, all of them speak perfect English, regardless of their nationality.

Again, this has zero affect on how I enjoy any cruise.  But, more than once I’ve had a little glitch when  communicating with some crew on other cruises.

Better than me.  I only speak perfect American.😎
