graphicguy,

Thank you so much for posting your thoughts and pictures throughout the cruise.  I sailed Edge in January 2019 and am looking forward to sailing her again this September.  Your posts make me look forward to my upcoming cruise even more.

One quick question:  would you happen to know who the "Retreat Manager" (formerly known as the "Suite Manager") is?  Priscilla is usually assigned to Edge but I know she's definitely not there at this time.  Just wondering who is there.  Also curious as to who is the manager of Luminae and names of any of the waitstaff there.

Thanks again.  Enjoy your last night onboard and have a safe flight home.  Hopefully FLL is will "drama free" this Saturday for you.

I dealt mostly with JOAO.  He acted like the Manager, but there were others who helped too….Amber being the one I talked to 2nd to JOAO.  There was one other Retreat Concierge but his name escapes me.  AJ was my Butler.  All did a splendid job.

My cabin stewardess was marvelous, also.

Believe it or not I believe Joao was onboard when I was on Edge in 2019.  There is a "suite manager" who the Retreat Concierges all report to........so that's the name I was looking for.  I suppose it's great that you did not meet him/her.......that indicates to me that the 3 concierges in the Retreat Area were able to help you with whatever you needed help with.  I've just gotten to know a few of the Suite/Retreat Managers over the course of my sailings and was just curious as to who was onboard.  No biggie -- I'll find out in about 7 weeks.  Again, thanks.

Graphicguy,

Thank you for letting us joining your cruise virtually, I, like most of us  got a better idea of what to expect when our cruises sail soon. Safe travels home.

Supposedly, they went from $8 = 1 tier points to $1 = 8 tier points which is generous change.  Many of us weren't sure if that was a typo but the $1 = 8 TCs appears in multiple places within the BCC webpages

I’m hoping that’s the case! Look forward to climbing tiers with you next week!

Loved following this (semi) live update. Wondering if you heard about crowds at Atlantis. Planning to go in two weeks, but might second guess if it’s getting busy/full. Departure time definitely cuts into the time we can spend at the resort.

And, came away with a few more Benjamins than what I walked in with.  So, happy about that

Does that mean you can unwrap the gift, so we can see, return it, and upgrade to a more expensive gift with the extra Benjamins 😉😉😉😂

Graphicguy - your buck and your schedule. But 4hrs from home to ship terminal? Your flight is 2.5 hrs; your drive to the airport is 40min; you are flying a weekend so all, and I do mean All, airports I have been to are jammed full this summer so unless you want to add more risk, you’d be smart to be there at least 1.5hrs prior to flight time - my local airport (yup a vacation area) is telling all to be there 3hrs prior and they are Not joking; it takes you 45min+ to get though FLL and then taxi/whatever to the terminal. thats more like 6hrs+ with everything working perfectly.

You’ve done it and will do it again and again. But don’t mislead others that it’s an easy 4hrs for direct east-of-the-Miss flight travels.

Enjoy your cruise and I posted this not for you and I to get into a back and forth, but for others who may buy in on that schedule you think will work so well.

den

We always do the same, flying in from Boston.......never missed a ship, not even close.

Our only close call was actually driving from Marco Island to MIA. between brush fires(road closures) and heavy construction on the infamous "alligator alley" , we barely made it.

Point is, that there are risks no matter what we do , just have options, as Graphicguy did!

There are a lot of cruisers that do this.

Suite manager was Dracko or something like that.  I know the spelling is not correct.   Marco was the Maitre D in Luminae.  This information is from the 7/3 cruise.   David is the Captains Club Concierge (all these new titles!).

Hard to disembark this a.m., but they wouldn’t let me stay.  I even tried to claim I was a refugee from Bouvet.  No dice.

But, as much as I didn’t want to leave, I did.  Given it’s been a couple of years since I’ve cruised, this was a painless disembarkation.  First, luggage was put out the night before (make sure you hold back some clean clothes, toiletries and meds).  Strolled lazily to Luminae for breakfast about 7:45 a.m.  Bad idea.  Huge line!

Got to El Bacio instead.  No line.  Two lattes and a croissant later, and I was ready to step off the ship.  NO LINES SNAKING AROUND TO DISEMBARK.  Walked straight off.

I have not mentioned much about Cap’n Kate.  Number one, you’ll find her all over the ship during your cruise, and she’s very willing to engage with you.  There were times where I did feel sorry for her when one or another  passenger thought they were actually qualified as a huge cruise ship Captain and bent her ear with I’m sure was prolific advice about how to sail the ship.  She would smile and just nod.

Bottom line, she’s a tremendous asset for Celebrity.  Not only is she brilliant and an accomplished Mariner, she’s also an engaging and top notch promoter.  They have her.  They should do everyone in their power to make certain she’s forever part of the Celebrity brand.  She’s certainly one of a kind.

No more presenting your passport as you leave. Face recognition at the port’s U.S. Customs.  Easy and quick.

As mentioned, have more pics and final thoughts when I get home.  In the meantime, Captain Kate said she thought I was the best passenger on board (blush)…..

As I look back on this cruise, the way it started (bomb scare at the airport) through the entertaining (like a train wreck) “porn girls”, to the new friends I’ve met, to the grand times all around the ship, its beauty, it’s over the top amazing crew…all of it, it’s been a top 3 cruise for me.

Top 3--WOW! I hope to say the same!!

It has been a joy to be on the journey with you--even if it was vicariously & not in person.

Safe travels!

Glad to hear the disembarkation was painless. Yes, I agree Captain Kate is an asset for Celebrity. One that I am sure they recognize.  Safe travels on your trip home.

graphicguy,

Thank you.  This live thread has close to 500 responses so far.  Actually somewhat unusual in the "normal"  standards of yesteryear.  Part of that is the great eagerness for a lot of us to cruise again on EDGE or any other ship.  But part is primarily due to your reporting and posting style. We felt like we were there with you.   Please cruise again soon!  (And take your girlfriend).🙂
