Just boarded the jewel flight from the us.

Recommended Posts

Just boarded the jewel and sailing in a suite. Flight from the US through London to Cypress  leaving  the US needed to show a negative Covid test the UK transient documents and Cyprus travel pass. Going through Heathrow did not have to show  any documentation. Landing in Cypress we had to show a negative Covid test and the travel pass. I thought since we were vaccinated we would have to show just a vaccination card. They said on the aircraft that if you did not have a negative Covid test  you’ll be sent for one as soon as you arrive. When we arrive to check in for the cruise the time from leaving the cab to boarding the ship was an hour and 20 minutes. It took about 25 minutes to get the results of the Covid test. The ship is sailing at about 20% occupancy for about 420 people. Everyone on board is really excited to welcome the guests. if you are in a suite  the happy hour concierge‘s club drinks do not count against your vouchers if you’re in the diamond club drinks do count against your vouchers. I will be happy to answer any questions anyone may have.

We’re glad to hear your travel experience was positive!  Thank you for sharing!

Did you have checked bags?  If so, did you have to clear customs in Heathrow and again when you landed?

Jewel is one of our favorite ships!  Hope you have wonderful weather and a great cruise!  Will definitely be following!  😀

So those in the DL have to use their voucher's ? That seems a bit unfair to those of that level.

What about those D+ that may not be sailing in a suite ? Is there a CL or SL ?

We did not have to go through immigration or clear customs in Lhr bags checked all the way Through

The concierge‘s lounge is only for suites. We are traveling with diamond plus members and they can only use the diamond lounge.

That scheme started with Quantum 8 months ago and it seems the whole fleet is going to that model.

Due to sail in September from the uk. Feeling abit more optimistic about it now.  20% capacity isn’t not very much but hopefully that will increase in time,

I have a couple of questions if you don’t mind

what is the mask policy on board? Is it inside & outside

Are they testing everyone that arrives at the airport? I thought if you were double jabbed that was all that was needed.

For dining are you at a table with others or just your own party?

Thank you. Enjoy your cruise & keep us posted!!

Gardenfrog

masks everywhere except stateroom and pool area and eating and drinking. We are at chops last night and did not wear a mask while seated.

if you show a negative test you don’t need to be tested upon arrival in Cyprus.  If not you will be tested at the airport. It appears that COVID   is getting worse now as of last Friday the rules changed and just eat at a establish but you need to show a negative Covid test or  vaccination card.

dining is with your party only

it seems for the last few years, royal has been whitling the concierge club down for diamond plus members and who knows how long before the policy officially changes. there should be seperate places for d,d+, and p   it doesnt have to be a whole lounge but at least something different.

Only suite pax allowed in the CL/SL.
P, D+ and D in the DL

4-5-6 vouchers daily based on tier.

Your vouchers count towards drinks consumed in the DL too now and are valid all day through the ship for drinks up to $12 and any sink, not just from the reduced D drinks menu.

This is how it’s working on Anthem too so guessing fleet wide

There are + and - to this new scheme.

I don't even know how the ship can operate with only 420 passengers.

Can't imagine how much different the Windjammer looks with only feeding that many people.

The dining rooms, must be like empty with 2 seatings, 2 decks and the speciality dining places.

Wow, exciting! I wondered if Americans were allowed on European cruises right now.

Yes, provided they are permitted entry to the country from which the ship is departing.  Each EU nation was given permission to set their own requirements for travelers back in June.
