….Now its a status symbol to not carry a cell phone. It represents freedom and personal independence.  Just an opinion.

Status symbol to not carry one? Now that’s funny. 🤣🤣🤣 How would someone know if you are or aren’t carrying one unless you have it out? These days most people carry smart phones which do so much more than flip phones. Looking things up, camera,  etc. are just a few of the useful things they can do and it’s all in one little gadget. If you want personal independence then just turn off the ringer.

I've always made it clear my phone is for me and my needs. I carry it most all the time. But I can choose to not answer it. It's there for me to use when I need to use it and not a tether for others to keep their access to. But it's for my benefit, not for anyone else's.

We agree 100% with you swallow.  Which means we can choose to lock them in the safe and not carry it, only need it for our needs

I meant that in the business sense, not personal use sense.

I would imagine Richard Fain has a cell phone.  But none of us can call it.  If somebody needs to contact him, he has several levels of hierarchy to contact first, and handle the issue.  So the measure is when one rises to a certain level, comes the status of NOT being able to be reached 24/7.

Had a wonderful time sailing Freedom of the Seas July 12-16. I was so happy to be wearing a lanyard again! The crew did scan our Seapass every time we entered and left the Windjammer, even if we were going to Chops or to Giovanni’s. I also play slots in the casino and you use your Seapass on every slot machine.

I guarantee you he can be reached 24/7 as can the heads of probably 100% of companies.   Just because you or I can't reach him doesn't mean he's out of contact.

My son used to get a hole in his so he can just have it attached to the Lanyard wthout the plastic sleeve.  I am assuming you do not want this if you are vaccinated?

Although I read somewhere that would be done for unvaccinated guests, at check- in I never actually saw anyone punching holes in Seapass cards.

Enjoyed the debate over lanyards.  They can be convenient, and the Pursar's Desk was happy to punch a hole for them.  Over the years I've found jewlery chain lanyards, Steelers' lanyards, Xmas ones for a holiday cruise etc.  Then again, there are even few people (🙄LOL) who still carry a small pocketbook onboard.  I'm old, and I like having my kindle, pen & pad, kleenex, phone for photos and other odds & ends.

Happy to hear you had a wonderful sailing!  How was the casino?  Was it quiet or have a fun vibe with people winning?

Were they still giving out cruise certificates at end of your cruise?

We had a great cruise, there was only 1,000 people on board so it was not crowded. I  lost money in the casino but saw several people get hand-pays. I just did not have luck this cruise. I did get a certificate for an interior cabin, and it was based on my play from my last cruise before the shutdown. I thought it was very neat that the casino was doing this.

That's great you got a cert. From previous play.

Great!  I just checked and I earned 2660 casino points on my last cruise before the shutdown, so hopefully I'll get a certificate.

Great points! Just ask the casino host about it when you get on board. I know the casino also did this for Adventure, so I have a feeling that they will do it for all ships currently sailing or sailing within the next two or so months.

Thanks, I'll do that next month on Ovation.  Are there any good sailings on the current certificate?

Pockets for evening, lanyards for day.

To each their own!

This is how we do it.

I wear a lanyard every day for work.  Being without one during the day feels like I am missing some important piece of clothing. 😄

A lanyard and these badge holders are an invaluable accessory.

Previously posted that we were in the pro-lanyard camp, and wanted to give a field report.  These worked great for us!  Easy to scan with barcode readers, checking in to get on/off the ship and when entering or exiting Windjammer.  Very easy to pop out, no fumbling with the zip closure and trying fish the card out in the traditional card style holder.

Thanks for the tip!

Now I'm embarrassed.  I have always used a lanyard.  I had no idea how unfashionable I looked.  I'm going to have a lanyard burning party tonight!

I have used a lanyard for years and will continue to use one in the future.  Mine is turquoise leather with a clear front and I love it.  I don't use it when I wear something with pockets, but that doesn't apply to everything I wear.
