pungo3 Posted May 5, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 5, 2004 I love sitting on my balcony. It makes you feel like you have the entire ocean to yourself. Naturally, I love eating, drinking, gambling, shows, etc., as well. However, I can do all those on land. Sitting quietly on the balcony, staring at the ocean, is something I can't do anyplace else!! kajsb Posted May 5, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 5, 2004 I agree with Pungo3. The balcony is so very important to me. You are in your own little world staring at the great ocean and the moon and stars at night. It is so relaxing and theraputic. Stillfloatin' Posted May 5, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 5, 2004 I agree with pungo3 -it's the balcony experience that gives me that ahhhhhhhhhhh feeling. I have a photo of my bare feet propped against the balcony for each cruise. I even have one on my desk at work. To me, it just says, cruising, baby! bethee Posted May 5, 2004 #11 Share Posted May 5, 2004 We take books and thermal cups for coffee and spend most of the day on the balcony hoping to see some dolfins. vonniej51 Posted May 5, 2004 #13 Share Posted May 5, 2004 Another one for the balcony. Everything else is great, but like Pungo said you can do those things on land. Sitting out on the balcony, watching the ocean and hopefully dolphins is wonderful, peaceful and humbling. bethee Posted May 5, 2004 #14 Share Posted May 5, 2004 this is actually from Mr. Bethee. I also am crazy about the balcony. We lived in Hawaii for seven years and the feeling of being on the ocean is really highlighted when you can see and smell it. I really enjoy the feeling of doing what you want at your own pace. there is always something doing so if you miss this thing stick around something else is coming right up.

Cotton Posted May 5, 2004 #15 Share Posted May 5, 2004 Well, I've never had a balcony cabin, but I do love being on deck with the wind and sun! Nothing like it. I consider myself very fortunate that my home is beachfront in Gulfport, and I have coffee every morning, and a drinkypoo every evening, looking at the Gulf of Mexico. HOWEVER, it's not even close to the feelings I have while cruising! imlulu Posted May 5, 2004 #16 Share Posted May 5, 2004 Cotton, I live near the water too.I can sit on my front porch and watch the boats go by. In the summer I sit there, reading a book, and just relaxing. We haven't done a balcony either and have never really felt any need too. Last week we saw seals sunning themselves on rocks near shore! A cruise is a great family vacation for us. I don't need another vacation when I come back! No longer cruiseless...donations still accepted! hstrybuf Posted May 5, 2004 #17 Share Posted May 5, 2004 Add me as another one that really enjoys having a balcony. Sitting on the deck in Kansas really doesn't quite give you the same feeling. Of course, we also enjoy meeting new people, seeing new places and trying new food and experiences. teedee Posted May 5, 2004 #18 Share Posted May 5, 2004 There are lots of things I like to do on cruises but my most favorite is being on the lido deck having a foo foo drink as the ship leaves port. jemingway Posted May 6, 2004 #21 Share Posted May 6, 2004 I like to climb to the highest deck with a commanding view of the ocean. I stand against the rail and let the wind blow over me, slowing blowing away stress, discomfort, any memory of work, until I feel I am a part of the wind. It literally blows concerns away. When I am rejuvenated, I go find my kids and play the silly games with them that it seems you never have time to do at home. The uninterrupted time together is the key to the whole vacation. sea-cruise Posted May 6, 2004 #22 Share Posted May 6, 2004 It's hard to choose a favorite thing. I like to mingle with people so even though we've been booking balconies, I end up on the lido usually. Everybody's in a good mood on a cruiseship. It's like one big happy neighborhood; No nasty sour faces. I live on a lakefront, but I prefer being on an ocean.
