BVILady Posted July 30, 2021 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2021 At the moment I don't see any cruise for P & O, Cunard has been cancelled, I also think that AIDA has been cancelled. I do see Holland America, Princess, Oceania and Viking (?) still on. Are any other world cruises for 2022 still scheduled?

Affirmative, Viking is still scheduled, although an updated itinerary is expected. 1
WholeNewWorld Posted July 30, 2021 #3 Share Posted July 30, 2021 As of today my Oceania ATW is still on. I just emailed my jacket size and got the confirmation back. We were told to not make any plans and be flexible- if nothing else this cruise will expand my patience and self calming skills! 😛 2

Yes for the three you name for being cancelled and all you found I can see as well. In addition there are another few: Seabourn, Phoenix with two ships (the Amera goes eastward and the Artania westward), and MSC. Of course our own Costa is still open to bookings as well.
BVILady Posted July 31, 2021 Author #5 Share Posted July 31, 2021 WholeNewWorld I am with you, my patience is very challenged and I never had much to begin with. Wondering when they will get us out of our misery. Open to new ports and experiences but WHERE is the question with so many countries heavily infected with Covid or just simply closed. So that seems like a lot of cruise lines are still hopeful for the 2022 World Cruise maybe a reason to stay optimistic even it is only 5 month away now. Do you know the Spanish “mañana” for tomorrow? Here tomorrow is “holnap”, but both meanings are “indefinite time in - often far - future”. 1
WholeNewWorld Posted July 31, 2021 #7 Share Posted July 31, 2021 BVILady- the only reason my husband and I haven't canceled is because we are excited to see how quiet the different ports will be without tons of tourist. Im picturing Taj Mahal with a third of the people and that sounds WONDERFUL! It is very challenging to pay for a trip and not know where we are going, but Im trying to see the fun in it. I do agree with those who have stated 'its to early', 'the cruise line will cancel', and 'the virus isn't finished yet'--- but I counter the virus may never be done, and we will never get to 100% vaccinated- so why should I hide? **Before some of you argue the point with me-I am one of those with a compromised body. I am stage 2 kidney failure.**

That may be the "just right" definition of any 2022 World Cruise that does sail. What they will know when they take in their lines on Day One may change--and change--etc.
NCCruzQueen Posted July 31, 2021 #10 Share Posted July 31, 2021 @BVILady Regent is still sailing as posted. Earlier this week, Crystal announced a change in itinerary with two possible paths: east to Istanbul or west to Istanbul, arriving on April 16 for the final sailing to Miami. My travel buddy and I cancelled mid June.
BVILady Posted July 31, 2021 Author #11 Share Posted July 31, 2021 Costa has us only for 1 day in Mumbai, I would love to visit the Taj Mahal, so with itinerary changes we might actually get a chance to visit. If India is open at all. At the moment Istanbul is not on our itinerary but have been thinking with so many ports not open we might get to Istanbul and to Malta, 2 ports I would love to visit again and which we will miss on our 2022 summer-cruises. Let's see what surprises await us if the cruise actually sails.

Having been on an overland cruise tour to Agra, such a visit during a one day port call would be very difficult and not one I would recommend. Transportation to/from Agra (not sure that a non-stop flight would be possible), sufficient time to visit the Taj Mahal: I think you would return to Mumbai dissatisfied and would have spent quite a sum of money for such a tour. There is so much more to India for one to attempt to experience and absorb than just the Taj Mahal!
BVILady Posted August 2, 2021 Author #13 Share Posted August 2, 2021 rkacruiser, I am sorry you must have misunderstood. I was hoping with itinerary-changes we might be in Mumbai for 2 full days to be able to visit the Taj Mahal with an overnight stay. India is right now still closed anyhow. I had previously planned a land-trip to India I needed to cancel because it was to difficult for us to obtain visa's. Now with online-visa's maybe 2023 🙂

If you do get to visit Agra and the Taj with at least one overnight in Agra, may I recommend the Oberoi Amarvilas Agra Hotel? My room directly overlooked the Taj and watching the colors change as the Sun light changed was fascinating. Service was outstanding. Walking into the hotel, I was met with staff offering cold towels. After checking in and getting to the floor where my room was, when the elevator door opened, a Floor Butler (!) met me, took my carry-on, escorted me to my room, and gave me an orientation of the features of the room. Don't specifically recall the meals that I ate in the hotel, but, the cuisine and service was excellent.

Aquadesiac Posted August 11, 2021 #17 Share Posted August 11, 2021 We're booked on the Viking Star for their 2022 World Horizons Cruise, 122 days starting in LA and ending in Bergen. Or some facsimile thereof... We're not concerned with changes to the itinerary. We're not whacked out by the idea that we need to be vaccinated (we have been for some time) or by the requirement to wear masks. We understand that the world is in flux and we need to be flexible. I'd love to know what our itinerary will be, but I'll be content simply to go. After all, Viking not only has to plan where to take us and what excursions to offer, but to determine where their ship can be refueled and re-provisioned along the way. I'm with Robert Louis Stevenson: "For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move!"

Great outlook, which will ensure if the 22 WC is a repeat of the Magical Mystery Tour, you will survive and have a great time.😁 I will be following the cruise with interest. I went for the experiencing of new experiences, of new cultures, of meeting new people, of continuing to learn what little that I then--and still--know. As my physical ability to travel increases, Mr. Stevenson has it right! Keep on movin'!

Aquadesiac Posted August 19, 2021 #22 Share Posted August 19, 2021 Many folks don't know that Robert Louis Stevenson was afflicted with a chronic lung disease. Could have been TB, or bronchiectasis or sarcoidosis. In any case, he was not a robustly healthy man, but he never let his health keep him from an adventure. This Scot eventually died in Samoa after extensive travel. He said, “I wish to die in my boots; no more Land of Counterpane for me. To be drowned, to be shot, to be thrown from a horse — ay, to be hanged, rather than pass again through that slow dissolution.” My own granddad said it more succinctly. "I'd rather burn out than rust out!"
BVILady Posted August 21, 2021 Author #23 Share Posted August 21, 2021 Most World cruises have Hong Kong as port. Hong Kong just increased quarantine for arriving travelers to 21 days, looks like Hong Kong might not be open in 6-8 month. Concerning Viking, they are offering a second World Cruise now for Dec. 2023 since the first one had sold out so quick.
