wendyinvt Posted August 30, 2021 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2021 Quick question about masks for those who have sailed recently - are there any restrictions as to "acceptable" masks? I.E. do they need to be the disposable 3-ply or are cloth masks acceptable?
footzz Posted August 30, 2021 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2021 From RCL FAQ - Mask Standards Your mask should be at least two layers of tight weave fabric with loops that fit over your ears in accordance with health guidelines. The mask should fit your face closely and cover your nose and mouth but allow you to breathe easily. Note that neck gaiters, open chin bandanas and scarves, and face masks with valves do not meet health authority guidelines and will not be permitted. 4

Iamcruzin Posted August 30, 2021 #5 Share Posted August 30, 2021 I guess nothing ever came about with the Seaface patent that was mentioned at the beginning of the pandemic.
lovesthebeach2 Posted August 30, 2021 #6 Share Posted August 30, 2021 (edited) We just got off Allure yesterday and everyone wore masks, most were cotton. No gaiters anywhere. Didn’t see many disposable but they’re allowed, in fact they give you two in your cabin when boarding. With the divisive politicizing of masks, RCG may have come to the conclusion that it wasn't in their best interest to promote them. 3

I never thought of that but I would agree especially since their bread and butter comes out of Florida ports.
JsMom2 Posted August 30, 2021 #9 Share Posted August 30, 2021 If you wear a plastic face shield you will need a mask underneath.

WVHillbilly Posted August 31, 2021 #11 Share Posted August 31, 2021 Was on the Adventure last week we wore either a 2 layer cloth mask or a disposable mask. I would recommend the disposable one in the high heat and humidity of the Caribbean. I did see some in a KN-95 but no neck gaiters.
sixbirches Posted August 31, 2021 #12 Share Posted August 31, 2021 On Ovation last week, people were wearing cloth masks and disposables. No gaiters. I would recommend the disposable masks since you can bring extras and have a fresh, clean one. They also provided 2 masks in our room.
msvacation Posted August 31, 2021 #13 Share Posted August 31, 2021 We also were on the Ovation last week and I agree with sixbirches. Cloth and disposables throughout the ship. We also had the two masks provided in our room and was told if you needed more you could get them at guest relations. We did not do this as we brought our own. My hubby were a clean cloth mask each day and I wore disposable ones each day and on a port day, I changed one out when we got back to the ship. smokeybandit Posted August 31, 2021 #16 Share Posted August 31, 2021 It looks like Seaface is just a trademark for a line of masks, not some special mask

N-95's are even better - if you can find them. We got ours from Amazon. They are made by Kimberly Clark. deliver42 Posted August 31, 2021 #19 Share Posted August 31, 2021 I don't think they allow gaters, but otherwise, no problem with cloth or disposable.

Masks are becoming like shoes/purses for us ladies, one for every occasion! Haha, kind of funny but, then again, I do like some bling now and then!! Cheers!!
