How do I get to Old San Juan at night? And what do I do there?

When Victory pulls into San Juan at 5pm, we're pretty far away from "town" right? (The docks for Royal were a definite taxi ride to anywhere.)If I do have to take a ride nto town, how much are the taxis at the pier? And is there anything to do at night - sights to see besides casinos and restaurants? Thanks.

Melissa

When I docked on the Legend, "town" was right up the street. We walked there and back. There is also a wyndham hotel directly across the street with latino music, dancing and lots of gambling in the casino.

Not sure of which pier you will be at-one IS walking distance to Old San Juan and one is not-been to both. The time we were at the one NOT walking distance-cruise line had FREE shuttles running constantly, so do check. We found a HUGE party in the square going on, dancing, music, etc-plus a local band was playing at the Wyndam where we stayed once-it was like a sidewalk cafe. Locals (most likely on their way home from work), set their "stuff" down" and danced a bit before heading off! Old San Juan has a lot to offer but do be careful-also heard sirens ALL night long.

I will call Carnival to see which pier we'll dock at and ask if they will provide free shuttles if we are not close to town. Thanks, that Wyndham thing sounds great!
