I just realized I am booked on a Philadelphia Eagle charter in March. Does this mean I’m going to be bumped off this cruise?

Just googled it to make sure it wasn’t the Enchantment which we will be on for B2B 3/17/22.

The Inaugural Philadelphia Eagles Fan Cruise sets sail March 20-22, 2022 on Royal Caribbean’s luxurious “Anthem of the Seas

If the March sailing date is completely sold out most likely the sailing is a full charter so you will be contacted by whoever you purchased the cruise from to make alternate arrangements. If the sailing still has availability it may be a partial charter. In that situation the charter in most instances attempt to fully book the entire ship. If they don’t sell every cabin they have the option up to a certain date to release cabins back to the cruise line to sell to the general public. Cabins on a partial charter are normally discounted to full the entire ship. On a personal note over twenty years ago the New Jersey State PBA chartered a Royal Caribbean ship for for a seven day Eastern Caribbean sailing from Port Everglades. I thought about taking the police sponsored cruise but decided against going on the Convention cruise. The PBA only sold around sixty percent of the cabins and released forty percent back to Royal Caribbean which was sold to the general public.

I got such a good price on this it will break my heart to cancel.

Many years ago I was on a chartered cruise, albeit only a partial charter. They took over EVERYTHING, overran the ship’s pool areas, and blocked the “regular” cruisers from certain lounges and venues as they held their numerous meetings and events. On that same cruise were two large wedding groups and a competing partial charter. The cruise turned out to be a nightmare.

No price is a good price if you have a miserable time and can’t use the majority of the venues normally accessible to you.

Ask the cruise line if they’ll do a price protection of sorts (it’s a very long shot) or find a date that may have a comparable price.

I got a tremendous deal on the cruise I’m currently booked on. But I’d rather pay more on another ship or date, or not even go, than to deal with that again. Ever. I’d cancel in a heartbeat.

Good luck.

How does one find out if their booked sailing is a charter or hosting a special group?

It used to be that you could use Google by entering your ship’s full name (not abbreviated or shortened) and the full sail date, and by checking the list of “results” which would reveal if there was a charter. There were also, “back in the in the day” pre-COVID, websites that listed ship charters, although the only one I can find now is…

I wouldn't cancel just yet.  Let Royal cancel you . They will send you an email and will usually give you alternate dates and price protect your cabin.  I've had cruises chartered on me and that's what they've done in the past.  You could contact the agency who's doing the charter and ask them if they fully chartered the ship so you would know if you're being canceled or on a partial charter.

Price protection does not exist anymore. A FCC seems to be the only option. Higher prices to rebook is the option that Royal prefers.

What was your category cabin and price you paid on Serenade? it was a 5 nighter? Correct?

laughing at all these posts.  Seriously, you actually think fans from NY or Dallas are any different?  I suppose all fans from LA sip tea and eat scones while watching games.  I have been to other stadiums in NY, Tampa, Arizona, Washington for away games and it's the same reaction when I wear my team jersey.  And this goes for away baseball and hockey games.  In all fairness, I did find the New Orleans fans and Minnesota were the nicest.  We went on a cruise out of NOLA when the Eagles had just lost to them in the playoffs and the fans and fellow shipmates were really nice.

So - I live outside of Philly and would not mind a ship with Eagles fans.  We don’t frequent the bars or pools usually so that should not be a problem.  Do frequent the casino.  We are Pinnacle so will also have the lounges open for happy hour, I hope.

I booked this thru the casino along with the March 27 cruise.  Would really hate to see either one cancelled as it is the last opportunity to use my tier benefit.  Katherine

A few years back we were on a Green Bay Packer fan cruise. Had embarkation lunch in Chops and got to sit and chat with some of the former players. Although I definitely will not root for the Packers, it was cool to chat with them. As far as the fans? They mostly kept to the Sky Bar above the pool, and all were well behaved. They had some special events with the players in a couple of the venues, but never really noticed if it was an area I wanted to be at. Honestly didn't think there were more than 100-150 of them. Only saw a few in the casino.......if I ended up with another Football Team cruise I would for sure go!!!
