Puerto Plata Status?

Hello All,

We'll be sailing in February 2022 on the Allure of the Seas.  Puerto Plata DR is a scheduled port.  Based upon the research I've done, a new port was being built there (separate from the one used by Carnival-Amber Cove).  It appears construction was delayed during the pandemic.  Does anyone have any update regarding the status of Puerto Plata?  Thanks in advance!

Someone on the main RC board posted a letter they got about their stop there on Oasis in mid Feb.

It said that due to port construction delays, they were going to Nassau instead.

I'm  due there also mid Feb on Celebrity, and was looking forward to it. Have not heard anything from them as of yet.

Have any non-Carnival brand ships stopped here yet?  We are scheduled on MSC Seashore for 12/15, and PP DR is still on our itinerary.  They already removed St. Thomas and replaced it with Nassau, so curious if we'll have another itinerary change.

Did you stop at Puerto Plata today?

I am not on the MSC Seashore but follow Taino Bay Puerto Plata on Facebook. Today they posted photos and videos of the MSC ship docking - first ship to call on the new facility. I don't think links are allowed but if you're on FB, do a search to find their page. 🙂👍

We're on the Celebrity Reflection in March 2022 and PR is on our itinerary.
