Grand on December

Yes we now have 3 cruises booked this year. We decided to sail on the 5 day Cabo sailing. Again we plan to go inexpensive for our cabin. However it is longer and I know my husband is a bit claustrophobic. So we are looking for the least expensive inside with easy access to get outside. We have been on the Grand. I see the Lido deck forward ones are the least expensive. Any thoughts on those cabins? We plan to book on board on October 6th and transfer to an agent. Thank you.

The lido deck on the Grand is a good deck to be close to all the action.  They actually have six premium oceanview cabins on that deck, just forward of them grill and pizza place.  They have a little hidden hallways and the oceanview rooms have floor to ceiling windows … they are a size of a standard cabin with balcony but they are all enclosed.  We’ve been meaning to try one of those for ages but, have gotten upgraded to a balcony every time we’ve booked one.
another great option on the Grand class ships are the obstructed oceanview on the emerald deck.  There are several without much of an obstruction at all so you get is a lot of natural daylight.  They are also very conveniently located to everything on decks six  and seven.

I love the Plaza Deck interior cabins behind the Art Gallery.  "Private" hallway since it dead ends into the International Cafe.  Gives you easy access to Decks 5, 6, and 7.  Deck 5 has nice places to sit.  Deck 7 is the Promenade and has indoor seatings.  Just be careful to choose wisely.  Some of them have those nasty bunk beds that protrude from the wall (not ceiling).

You might consider Emerald deck forward. On the port side for sure and possibly still on starboard, you can go out a couple of doors and be right on the upper Promenade deck. We've done that many times. Also, the price difference between an inside and an obstructed OV on Emerald might be small. The forward obstructed OVs on Emerald offer the easy exit to upper Promenade, while the midship OVs allow for just going down one deck to Promenade.

I had no idea those cabins existed. We've only sailed on Grand once and we had one of the aft-facing corner balconies on Lido Deck. My wife loved the cabin. These Premium OV cabins with the floor to ceiling windows sound interesting!

Interesting:

Are these the same cabins as "newly" installed on the Coral Princess?  Scroll down midway.

I once peaked in to these cabins on turn around day.  They are right next to the casino.

Hidden secrets.

I don't think they are anything new.  They were originally designed to be balcony cabins and for whatever reason, they made oceanview cabins out of them instead.

As far as I can tell, the Grand is the only ships that have these cabins.  On all the other grand class ships, they are balcony cabins.

We had one of these once, and I loved it. No balcony obviously, but you get a lot more cabin space and those floor to ceiling windows are great.

I looked on Cruise Deckplans, and the only photo they had of one of that cabin type on the Coral didn't look like the premium OV we had on the Grand. The ones on the Grand have floor to ceiling windows - think of it as just about the entire outside wall of the cabin is a window - while the pic of the Coral had a large window that doesn't reach the floor. The one on the Coral looks like a very nice cabin.

My go to inside cabins on the Grand are Lido deck aft. You have easy access to the aft pool and just a quick flight up to the buffet. The forward Lido cabins have too much motion for me.

You must mean Aloha aft?

We were considering the aloha aft as well. Is that bar still there by the Terrace pool? We would go there a lot.

Our cabins of choice are A744/745 on the Grand or R7444/745 on the other grand class ships.

We are just 3 steps away from the terrace pool & bar, and spend most of our time out there.

It is still there, but the hours are (or at least were) fairly limited.  I too love the location, but your walk for cocktails might be a bit longer than planned at times.  Champagne problems right?

I remember that bar well. My husband hurt his back and I was quickly able to get him his pain killer from the bar!

We always book the Lido inside cabins if we can. We’ve been on the Grand in one of these and that’s when we fell in love with them. Very easy access to the bar and  buffet. You can hear MUTS as you walk outside but never noisy inside. I love being close to the buffet to grab tea in the evening. We’ll be on the Dec 15 Cabo cruise on the Grand in a Lido inside cabin.

Oh now I’m undecided with different views. Lido was my original choice, but my husband loved the bar by the Terrace pool so those cabins are appealing too. I need to win the lottery so I can pick the best cabin,
