European cruise and bringing wine on ship

Its been a few years since I did a European cruise with Carnival. Have one booked in 2022. Can you still bring a bottle of wine per person onboard at each port to drink in your room, meaning they dont take/keep it till the end? It used to be that way unlike cruises from the U.S.

Think you can still bring a bottle per person when you first get on the ship. Do not think you can bring any back in the ports on Carnival. I may be wrong  and have not tried. Would be nice though.

It is easy in Barcelona. There is a liquor store inside the cruise terminal. You can select a bottle without schlepping with you from home.

On our 2 Carnival Med cruises - in ports we could return with whatever we wanted, no questions asked.   But our most recent cruise there was in 2016 so......

Thanks. Same with me a few years ago. Wondering if anyone did one right before Covid and what the rules were.

We've been on three Mediterranean cruises with Carnival and at all ports we brought on alcohol and it wasn't limited to one bottle. A lot of the ports have duty free shops after security clearance and we've witnessed some crazy shopping.

Been about that long for me. Hoping its still the same but would love to hear from someone who maybe cruised in 2020 right before the pandemic or is cruising now...

were any recent 2020/2021? Right before or after Covid shutdown?

The 2021 Mediterranean cruises where cancelled and the 2020 season would have been shut down completely by COVID.  It generally runs from May(ish) through Oct-Nov.
