Good Evening to All;

Tomorrow we sail on the first post Covid Sail for the Emerald. The ship was not in port at 2pm when I drove by but I saw the Grand at Berth 92 ready to leave.

I am safely ensconced in the Crowne Plaza Hotel with their Park-Stay and Sail Package after a short trip form the San Diego area. I had a nice HH and dinner at the Green Onion a Mexican restaurant California style, right across the street.  A great value for decent food and great drinks.

We will be boarding tomorrow just after 11:00 am with Elites, then Platinum boarding first. After that we will be given a Group Boarding Pass according to our arrival time.

I hope that others on the Cruise will share some of their experiences and try to answer any questions that those whom are interested might have.

Until tomorrow! Aloha and Ciao!

How did you like the Crowne Plaza?  We have a reservation in April of 2022.  I've read recent reviews that mention dirty rooms, shady people hanging around, and unfriendly staff.

Not at all our experience. Clean, very friendly, a lot of crew from all over but all very polite. Really nice breakfast buffet.

We were in the Elite waiting area by 9:45am. The first couple to book this cruises was escorted onboard for a special ceremony. Guest Service Director Nelson said there are 800 guests on board. The Elite area has refreshments and pastries.

So, so, so happy!!

800?  Seriously?

If you were doing your first Panama Canal transit, this itinerary would be disappointing because it misses most of the traditional ports.  This is clearly a start-up/re-positioning itinerary.

We have been through the canal many times and would have enjoyed this cruise.  We are however, looking forward to transiting thru the new locks in February.

Please let us all know what the mask and testing requirements were since they just announced extra protocols for cruises 10 days and more.  Are you really required be masked in ALL indoor settings ?  Are they forcing to sip and cover in bars and take a bite and cover in restaurants ?

Princess updated the mask policy yesterday; it’s on the Health Advisory landing page of their website.

Yes. They are mandating that everyone on cruises longer than 10 days now wear masks AT ALL TIMES while indoors.

“All guests must wear face masks covering their nose and mouth while indoors at all times. Exceptions are made while they are eating or drinking, receiving spa treatments relating to the face, during high-intensity exercise, in pools, whirlpools or sauna, as well as in their stateroom.”

What inquiring minds want to know is how this is actually handled on board ship

One would think that since Princess received so much bad press during the initial Covid breakout, and many cruisers are hesitant to return, that the rules and policies as stated will be strictly adhered to.
