My boss has stayed there several times, while in PR on business. He has stated that it is fine. It is in the Condado area, right next to the Wyndham Condado, probably an $18 cab ride from the pier near Old San Juan. Depending on the price you are getting vs. some of the bigger chain hotels, I would say go for it. Supposedly, you are able to use all of the facilities next door at the Wyndham, such as pool area, etc. If I could save considerable money by staying there, I would.

We had a large group there a year ago March, had no problems. Their own pool is very nice, right on the ocean. Good greakfast, close to everything. Probably a 10 minute ride or less to the pier, you can see the ships docked there in the morning. There is a connecting walkway to the Condado Plaza.

It's a "moderate" hotel, older, inexpensive, locally owned, in a fantastic area.

There is virtually no lobby, and... while it's on the beach, you can't access the beach from in front of the hotel, you have to use the boardwalk to the Wyndham's beach and pool area.

The hotel's pool is on the side, is fairly small, and doesn't get much sun during the day. The Wyndham pool is the one on the beach, and it's lovely.

This is one place where believe it or not I would recommend a LOWER floor rather than a higher one. The massive rooftop A/C is horrendously noisy.

When I was there, Continental breakfast was included and you got a chip to the Wyndham's casino, too!

It sounds good enough for the price that I paid.

We are only staying one night, ans long as it is comfortable. and close to the pier.

I liked it because it was obviously a "local" place, unpretentious, with genuinely nice staff. The rooms were nice; not fantastic, but clean, and as a pre-cruise hotel, it's perfect.

Oh, and having a Tony Roma's right across the street didn't hurt much either :-)

Maybe you'll be upgraded to one of their suites. Now THOSE are nice rooms!
