If you get the same kind just make sure you don’t pull it tight or you will have to cut it off like I did after the cruise. My DW "helped me" and tightened mine. Hers was loose enough to take off at night. It did not bother me. If it bothered me I would of gone to get a new one put on loose. Thanks for the heads up. I’ll make sure I can slip the ID band off when I want to. Edited November 5, 2021 by coffeebean

The mask should fit your face closely and cover your nose and mouth but allow you to breathe easily. Note that neck gaiters, open chin bandanas and scarves, and face masks with valves do not meet health authority guidelines and will not be permitted. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/will-i-have-to-wear-a-face-mask-onboard-my-cruise Thank you for posting this.

We have never worn the bracelet and no one has insisted since we let them know that the "rubber" of the bracelets cause blood bruises on our wrists. So seniors who have a bruising problem may consider just carrying the bracelet somewhere else like on the woman's purse or man's belt Is carrying the bracelet allowed? Is masking mandatory outside on deck?

BeagleAgility Posted November 5, 2021 #82 Share Posted November 5, 2021 (edited) Okay - rather than starting a new thread - figured I would ask in this one. I am confused over the Royal mandate of the masks - 2 layers. What does that mean? I have been wearing these at home and no one seems to say anything. Will these be okay on the cruise? The box does not say anything about 2 layers - but states they are Level 2. Thanks. Edited November 5, 2021 by BeagleAgility

ASTM Level 2 and Level 3 is the mask’s ability to block blood arterial spray from getting inside the mask. The Level 2 is fine for every day use. I have a few hundred green ones of those and wear them at the hospital at my desk job. 😎 Edited November 5, 2021 by matt1

I was thinking one full mask on top of another - and not the "folds" that are incorporated into the mask.

Most all 3 layers masks have the outer “rougher layer”, the inner “soft layer” that goes against your face, and a middle layer of melt blown or other material. Here’s a fine example… Edited November 5, 2021 by matt1

Here’s a nice video to also help with the explanation: https://youtu.be/69eiTGsBcCE He’s got a bunch of test videos to also look through, if you’re so inclined. 😁 Edited November 5, 2021 by matt1

You won’t know how many layers unless it says so on the packaging or you cut one over… it’s literally layers of different cloths stitch together and pressed into place. If your mask is 2 colors (blue on one side, white on the other)… than you know there are at least 2 layers… but odds are theres at least 3 layers as 2 layers mask are pretty rare. SkaterJasp Posted November 5, 2021 #88 Share Posted November 5, 2021 Comparing Royal Caribbean to Carnival… both have similar policies but I can say that the staff and crew onboard Ovation of the Seas did a lot more enforcing and making sure people are complying with the mask policy whereas Carnival Miracle it was a free for all and the rules and signs are just for show. matt1 Posted November 5, 2021 #89 Share Posted November 5, 2021 One thing I do want to add - and this should be fairly obvious - PLEASE make sure that you are disposing of your used masks properly. Whether you are on land or at sea, place used masks in a waste receptacle and not tossing them onto the ground or off into the ocean. You’d be surprised at how quickly a hospital parking lot or parking garage can become littered with used masks when people just don’t care. This has been a friendly public service announcement. 👍😁

It drives me nuts to see any garbage (mask or anything else) on the ground when there are trash cans all around.
