Graham, I share this so it might make you more upbeat.

One time, DH had a colonoscopy set up.  The nurse gave him prep instructions and materials, and set up an appointment for him.  He did the whole starvation thing and prep and then presented himself at the doctor's office on Friday afternoon.

The appointment was just for a pre-op consultation -- they sent him home!

Sometimes one doesn't know whether to laugh or cry.

OMG!!  Your poor DH!

Thanks Sandi.  They are experiencing once in a 100 year floods,  in many areas all at once,  the rainfall has been up to 10 inches per day!  the city of Vancouver is cut off from the rest of Canada by three highways and rail.   It is really threatening the supply chain as much stock comes in by boat.  Really catastrophic.
Hoping not too much loss of life,  one has died,  others are missing.  I just really feel for people who were evacuated only a few months ago due to fire now being evacuated again.  The whole city of Merritt has been evacuated.

Prayers for all the people of Merritt.

They have endured so much with the fires and now the flooding.

This is devastating news and I hope the casualties are very low.

Graham.

That must have been really disappointing.

I had a colonoscopy about 10 years ago so can appreciate what he had to do.

Fortunately everything was good for me and I actually watched the procedure on a large TV screen during the op.

I know.  They were nice, though.  They scrambled around and found someone to do it over the weekend.  So he only had to starve one more day.  TBH I had asked DH a bunch of times if he was quite sure he had the correct appointment.   I thought it should be in a surgery environment and also not quite late on a Friday afternoon.  That's an unusual time for procedures.  But I never said, "I told you so."  🤷‍♀️

That IS disappointing.  I'm so sorry you have to sit and wait until after Christmas.  Someone should have told you when you made the appointment that it was a consultation only.  But never fear, your Daily friends will be cheering you on when the time comes!😉

The NHS send a text and a portal link with an appointment date and you are asked to confirm you will keep the appointment.

The original consultant at the clinic said it would be done at the outpatient clinic at the hospital so when I got that appointment I assumed it would be done then.

Graham.

Near your eye but not too close so that is good.  The doctor I worked for specializes in the delicate eye tissues.  Make sure to use vitamin e when the doctor says you can, it really helps and I've hear that vitamin c helps with healing.  One doctor asked his patients to take a certain dose up to and after surgery for healing.  I know you must be in very good hands.

What a day!  So much going on,  I'm thinking of all of you having "stuff" happening - or not happening!  Roy, hospital food porn is not what we expect of you!  I prefer your pictures from a BHB....  Hope you are feeling better.

Graham, that looks like quite a large BCC.  Have you had it many years?  I believe they are pretty slow growing?   I had one near my nose that I had had for a long time,  thinking it was some sort of pimple, and it had a long root, like a carrot.  I do still have that scar, but later ones were removed by plastic surgeons and nothing shows now.    I have a bump now, just below my eye that the dermatologist says she will take care of any time now.  I must call and make an appointment.  She says whatever she does to it, I will have a black eye...

The sun is shining here today, but we haven't had a paper for three days (they are printed up the island) so I suppose the roads are still being cleared.  I believe they managed to get one lane open yesterday for a while, and were allowing alternating traffic.  Must have been chaos. So sorry for all the problems on the mainland, and Vancouver ( a large barge was swept ashore near Stanley Park, too).

Pat says a newspaper has just arrived, so maybe the highway has been cleared.

I only noticed it in February after my eye op because up till then I wore glasses 24/7 and the arm of my glasses covered it.

Lenda, if they put you on a longer tour, I'm glad you didn't miss your ship!😂

It was a longer tour than we booked, but was geared to the ship's timetable.  We booked in the terminal, so they knew when the ship sailed.  We were back on the Ruby Princess well before all aboard.  We just got more bang for our money than the rest on the tour.

We saw the stories about all the horrendous flooding and mud slides in both the US and Canada.  Our hope is all the rain and devastation is over soon without much loss of life, and that clean up can begin soon.  Our hearts go out to all affected.

@grapau27  Graham, I had a basal cell carcinoma removed from under my eye  near my nose.  This was done 33 years ago in the dermatologist's office using the MOHS method.  Back then, he told me to put Vaseline on the site even before the stitches were removed. He also said he hid the incision in a wrinkle so it would be less noticeable.  😀  I cannot find it now.

@rafinmd  Thanks for the update.  I know you want to be home, but getting the correct medication is important.

Just got email that our medallions for our December 4 (Regal Princess) cruise have been shipped.  Seems strange to get so excited for a 5-night Caribbean, but after 24 months since being on a cruise, anything sounds good! 😎

I saw the consultant for 5 minutes.

He took a few details and said I will have a soft tissue procedure but it will be in theatre after Christmas.☹️☹️

I said I thought it was being done today but he said no.☹️

Very disappointed.

Graham.

Graham, DH had a basal cell spot on his temple too, and I honestly can't find the scar now.  It will take a little time, but you should do fine.🙏

What does “in theatre” mean? (Is that the British term for outpatient surgery?)

I, too, have had MOHS 3 times. They got borders on the first try each time. A year later, I had another lesion very close to the previous one. The type I have is dispersed through the tissues. Ended up with a course of Aldara in the entire area, and so far, no more BCC. The surgeon was concerned on the third, that there would be a big scar, but no, you can hardly see it.

Good idea Lenda.

Sorry to hear you had a BCC under your eye but pleased it was removed and cleverly disguised so you cannot see where it was.

The devastation in BC continues with mudslides and evacuations.  My cousin’s son and young family with a new baby are waiting to be evacuated.

Oh my, your cousin must be nearly out of her mind with worry!  Prayers winging their way that the evacuation takes place very soon!

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

In operating Theatre can be for out patients and in patients.

Sometimes like when I had my eye phacovitrectomy op in February I was admitted in hospital first for a few hours in a private room before and after the op for observation.

When I had a cataract op a few months ago it was in outpatients operating theatre and I was allowed home straight away.

Thank you to everyone for you kind wishes.  I really appreciate it.

Back from both appointments.  The first for me was a definite 👍 Relieved and happy about that.

The second was 👎. Not good but the doctor is pursuing other tests for DH and hopefully they will be revealing and helpful 🙏🏻

No need to be on the Care list as DH likes his privacy but I was touched by all of your concerns.  God Bless you all ♥️

I was disappointed but when I get my next appointment I will ring and try and confirm the op will be done then.
