The devastation in BC continues with mudslides and evacuations.  My cousin’s son and young family with a new baby are waiting to be evacuated.

How awful for you cousin’s son and family.  There are still people trapped on the roads from the mudslides for the 3rd night.  It’s so horrific in B.C. Right now.  Our prayers for your cousin’s son & family and all those that need to be evacuated and rescued in B.C. 🙏🏻

A couple of things today - a celebration for our DS and DDIL who celebrate their 11th anniversary, and a prayer request for DH's sister who is undergoing valve replacement this morning.  She received a call late yesterday saying due to the weather, there had been a number of cancellations, and if she could get to the hospital this morning by 6:30, they could do the surgery.

Happy anniversary to your DS & DDIL

So sorry to hear about your SIL - prayers for her 🙏🏻

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

Interesting days. I occasionally send an eCard, but prefer real cards. I make homemade bread, both yeast and sourdough, but less lately as I'm watching calories. I should take a hike!

The meal looks good. I'll pass on the drink and wine.

I haven't been to Brazil. Thanks for the pictures.

It's a beautiful day here today, 66 and sunny. I've just spent several hours blowing leaves to the curb for Friday pickup. You could hear the leaf blowers running up and down the block, to take advantage of the weather.

I will be taking my best friend for MOHS surgery Nov 30th. He's had squamous cell, and a melanoma (scary) previously. He is very fair and was a redhead in his youth, so he burned easily from the sun. This is a basal cell, but very close to the lower eyelid. He will have to go to an oculoplastic surgeon the day after the MOHS for some type of repair.

@grapau27 Sorry you were disappointed that you only saw the consultant today and the surgery is not for a while.

@rafinmd Praying that the antibiotics are working, and you can switch to pills and get out of there soon!

@kazu Thanks for doing the Care and Celebration lists today. Prayers for  you and DH.

@ger_77 Congrats to your DS and DDIL on their anniversary! And prayers for DH's sister's surgery to be successful.

@aliaschief Safe travels and have a great time.

@Sharon in AZ I'm familiar with tangzhong, but haven't used it myself. I'll be interested to see how your rolls come out. I am a fan of Gesine Prado and this is her recipe that I intend to make one day https://redstaryeast.com/recipes/milk-bread-honey-buns/

@bennybear So sad about the floods. Prayers for your cousin's family. I hope loss of life is minimal.

Prayers for the care list and cheers for the celebration list.

Stay safe everyone. Our Covid numbers here are way too high and with holiday travel will likely stay that way or increase even more.

Good morning and thanks all!  A shout out to Jacqui for stepping in!
Glad to hear Roy  is doing  better!  Mobility is medicine, a sign in our hospital that you have taken to heart.  Our hospitals too give a menu, but the post surgical meal can be very light.

Graham, try not to worry too much, I’ve had a basal cell removed and it was pretty low key.  I have another removal in a couple of weeks after my biopsy.  My DH has had basal, squamous and melanoma.  He was fortunate in that his melanoma was caught early.  Always good to be on top of these things, if caught early they can be easily removed.
Sandi, love those photos!

Sending prayers 🙏 for your cousin's son and his family and hopefully they are evacuated quickly and safely.

@ger_77 how is your DSIL after the valve replacement today?

@rafinmd hope the antibiotics are working well for you, and that you will soon be home again. Did you receive the e-mail we sent?

Today we have been able to download our Covid passports for use within NZ, soon there will also be a different passport to be used for overseas travel.

Stay safe, take care everyone.

My niece and her BF were one of the many affected by the terrible floods and landslides in BC last Sunday. They were driving back from the BC interior to Vancouver when they were trapped on the highway between 2 landslides. They spent the night and most of the following day in their car and were evacuated late Monday afternoon via military helicopter to an evacuation centre. Today they were able to fly via a float plane from a community 8 km from the evacuation centre to Vancouver. Not sure when/if they will get the vehicle back.

Prayers for all who continue to be affected by this terrible historic event.

This is the specialty of the doctor I used to work for. It’s a highly specialized type of plastic surgery for the tissues around the eyes. I’ve seen her repair entire eyelids and other than losing eyelashes the results are impressive. Best wishes to your friend.

I love Gesine Prado!  Do you follow her FB page?  I’m always amazed at her pastry design. She recently did a top pie crust like the spokes on a bicycle, it was amazing. I’ll definitely check out this recipe. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, and I forgot a picture of my rolls.  This is right before I baked them. After they proofed I realized that I used an 8” cake pan but it called for a 9” cake pan. So they came out kind of tall. It’s an America’s Test Kitchen recipe “Fluffy Dinner Rolls”.

I couldn’t resist eating one before I took a picture. It was delicious.

Our hearts are breaking 💔 for so many people in B.C.  It’s truly horrific.

So glad your niece & BF were rescued.  Cars can be replaced - people can’t.  God bless the Search & Rescue teams which are working endlessly to help safe people.

I do follow Gesine on FB. I first became acquainted with her on the Isolation Baking Show videos that King Arthur Flour company did in 2020. Her creations are amazing. And she is self taught! She was a lawyer until she left Hollywood and relocated to Vermont.

I saw the consultant for 5 minutes.

He took a few details and said I will have a soft tissue procedure but it will be in theatre after Christmas.☹️☹️

I said I thought it was being done today but he said no.☹️

Very disappointed.

Graham.

So sorry to hear this. Communication should have been much clearer. Hopefully we can help your disappointment pass quickly. 🙂

I started watching her about 5 years ago when she had a show on the Food Network. She would occasionally film in the baking class room that they added onto their house. I only watched bits and pieces of the King Arthur videos.

@kazu

So true. If the worse that happens is they lose their car, it is a blessing.

A minute either way, they could have easily been caught in the landslides.

My eldest DS lives in Kamloops and frequently travels around BC for both business and pleasure. Fortunately he stayed in Kamloops this past weekend and was safe from the floods although can't go anywhere now except by flying. But as a geotechnical engineer his services will be in great demand as BC transportation evaluate the integrity of the roads.

Happy Wednesday.  I don't like electronic greeting cards, I guess it is because I'm a demonstrator for a card crafting company.  I like to send them.  Haven't made bread in year and I don't think I'll take a hike.  Interesting quote.  The meal sounds wonderful. Have not been to Brazil, looking forward to the photo's of the destination of the day.

Had good news that my cousins son and family are now safe!
They are saying this will be the most expensive natural disaster in Canadian history.

There has been a huge loss of animals

That is fantastic news your cousin's sons family are safe.

Really sad news about the huge loss of animals.

It is 62°F and sunny here.

Pauline has the job at church to write the names into the church memorial book so she is currently doing that now.

@Rafinmd I hope you have had a comfortable night Roy and can leave hospital today.

Good luck with the restart of your radiation treatment.

Wishing everyone a lovely day.

Graham.
