bosswench Posted January 8, 2022 #126 Share Posted January 8, 2022 Submitted my request for shareholder credit the last week of December on my b2b in early February. I included both confirmation numbers on the form. Got the email yesterday approving both, $50 on the 6 nt, and $200 on the 8nt. I am on a very good rate, but not one of the casino bargains.
cocomango Posted January 11, 2022 #127 Share Posted January 11, 2022 Thank you Carnival Forum for informing me that we can do this. I did send my request less than 3 weeks before our 7 day cruise. Didn't hear anything so I figured oh well since we are already back. Then this morning I got an email from Carnival apologizing that they are short staffed and they refunded me $100 on my credit card!

NCTribeFan Posted January 12, 2022 #129 Share Posted January 12, 2022 Not sure why I neglected to do this until this morning!. I usually send mine in earlier. Sent mine in for my 1/30 sailing. It's a casino rate, but not a deeply-discounted. We'll see. I bought back in early 2009 when it was at a (then) low and have received many OBCs since then. I hold it as an investment. The OBC has just been icing on the cake. FTR, I was denied for my HAL "free" casino offers but received it for my cruise I just took last month, which also was a slightly-discounted casino fare. Of course, just because HAL (and Princess, etc) are under the CCL umbrella doesn't mean they handle things in the same manner. Again, we'll see. pe4all Posted January 12, 2022 #131 Share Posted January 12, 2022 Again, I wish CCL would be consistent in following their own policies. I did have a slight casino discount, and was disallowed the stockholder obc, but seeing others were approved is a bit annoying.
edspec Posted January 12, 2022 #132 Share Posted January 12, 2022 Just sent statement and email for my VIFP rated cruise next month. Will return once I have an answer.

It does almost seem to be a function of which employee gets your request. And I think we can all agree that that is not right, not the way things should be done.

And what was the name on the letter… I’m trying to see if a certain person is giving them or if it number of shares…
Rare Silent Penguin Posted January 12, 2022 #135 Share Posted January 12, 2022 Last November, I booked a last-minute rate and was subsequently denied my OBC request. I just sent a request for my upcoming cruise, VIFP rate, so I'll let you all know how that goes.
Moviela Posted January 12, 2022 #136 Share Posted January 12, 2022 For the people who have been denied the shareholder benefit there is a strict protocol they follow to determine if you do actually own the shares. The most important are a dated statement of ownership. Just because you bought shares in 2002, does not mean you still hold them. They require a current date on a broker's statement with your name exactly as shown on your reservation and passport. Jim Smith is different than James Smith, and James Algernon Smith is different than James A Smith. The name of the broker has to match one of those on the share register. If you have a well known broker, they will find it easily, but some brokers don't actually hold the shares you own in their name. The latter are usually smaller outfits, and actually use a large brokerage to hold your shares. You need to get a statement showing where your broker holds your shares. To recap: 100 common shares of CCL (NYSE) Current date statement Statement shows date, shares owned, and your name. Preferably on the same sheet of paper. Name on the statement matches name on the booking in every detail. Name is the same on Passport (or other Real ID.)

Sent in all the info they wanted, including copy of my Royal Alliance statement I had received 3 days before, as it was the most recent. Can't find the email they sent, but first name on email was Christine.
johnboy036 Posted January 13, 2022 #138 Share Posted January 13, 2022 I just sent in my request for my shareholder OBC for my two upcoming cruises in January and February. I wasn't going to send in the request (based on the responses here) but the email takes about 5 minutes including downloading and attaching my broker statement. If I get the OBC great, as it will buy a few drinks or bottle of wine and if not I still got the best rates that I ever have for these cruises. I also own the shares (600) as an investment and not just for the OBC but it's a nice perk. I have yet to be denied so we shall see. I'll post if I get a yes or no once I get a response.
Cruizin for a Bruizin Posted January 13, 2022 #139 Share Posted January 13, 2022 Got our $100 OBC for an upcoming Feb cruise. Was credited about 10 days after we mailed in proof of ownership. No idea what special rate we booked under.
pe4all Posted January 13, 2022 #140 Share Posted January 13, 2022 Found the email disallowing my shareholder credit: Dear ____ Thank you for submitting your shareholder brokerage statement. Regrettably, we are unable to process your request to apply the shareholder benefit with the reference #____. In accordance with the terms of the shareholder onboard credit benefit, reservations with a reduced rate is ineligible for onboard credit. Thanks BlerkOne for any insight. Nothing wrong with them, your investment is safe - maybe safer now, but Morgan Stanley bought Etrade and Charles Schwab bought TD Ameritrade, so eventually they may be merged in and disappear. Or may remain as is.

Please, please get advice from someone who understands investing before buying shares of an underperforming company in pursuit of onboard credit. Make quality investments and use the capital appreciation to buy your own drinks.
