wesnliz Posted December 12, 2021 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2021 If you booked a tour so you can get off the ship, when the tour is done, can you wander around the port? Can you only get off the ship right before the tour?
Homosassa Posted December 13, 2021 #2 Share Posted December 13, 2021 You are in a "bubble" to protect others. No wandering around on your own to infect others.
wesnliz Posted December 13, 2021 Author #3 Share Posted December 13, 2021 Yes I’ll be sure to not infect everyone with my double tested 2 year old - noted - but that’s not what I asked. The excursions are mixed with vaxed and not vaxed it appears so that’s where my question came in.
wesnliz Posted December 13, 2021 Author #4 Share Posted December 13, 2021 And they are on the ship anyway, so no need to be petty and make comments that would imply disregard or infection.

The point is to control your interaction with others who are not on the ship. Edited December 13, 2021 by MeHeartCruising

I asked this question a few weeks back and I was told by someone who sailed with children that no, your party will be escorted to and from the ship, but you can then leave the kid in the kid's club and come ashore if you want to shop. Can you only get off the ship right before the tour? depends on the location. We were on a "bubble" tour, aka sardines on a bus*, in St Kitts and St Thomas because of our unvaxxed kid. On the way to the excursion, the group kind of got stretched and we even got lost on the way to the meeting spot. We had to find it on our own. On the way back we were dropped off at the ports, and were free to shop around at the port. Nobody asked, nobody questioned, nobody detained... We didn't need anything so we didn't go into stores (we never do anyway), but we walked around the ports taking photos and then boarded the ship. It may be different in Europe or other ports, though. 15 minutes ago, MeHeartCruising said: The point is to control your interaction with others who are not on the ship. we were in contact with many locals, because both of our "bubble" tours took us to the local public beaches. I hear it was different for Nassau's Blue Lagoon beach excursion because they weren't even allowed to wander around on their own. * It's funny because social distancing was half-way enforced on the ship, but we were stuffed on the buses in very close proximity to total strangers. I mean - seated 6" away from a guy I've never seen before. Edited December 13, 2021 by Itchy&Scratchy

Packed in like sardines on a bus and then interacting with locals anyhow. What exactly is the safety benefit. Just really odd. I guess these are all local regulations. So seemingly every country, big or small, has crazy policies that seem to do nothing but provide a false sense of security.
wesnliz Posted December 13, 2021 Author #9 Share Posted December 13, 2021 (edited) Sounds as I imagined. It depends on the country and the tour operator of that specific tour Edited December 13, 2021 by wesnliz

I mean - at least we knew that everyone over 12 from our cruise was vaxxed, and everyone over 2 was tested prior to the cruise, which I can't say about my kid's school (masking is not mandatory) or the plane on the way to and from the cruise. Yeah. To me everyday life creates much riskier scenarios than a group of people who all just tested negative for the virus (even if unvaccinated). That’s my point. From the sound of it, the bubble concept is pretty pointless. I doubt unvaccinated young kids will spread virus any more than vaccinated adults at a beach bar not wearing a mask.
Rare 1025cruise Posted December 13, 2021 #12 Share Posted December 13, 2021 On the bubble tour, you must go and return to the ship. However, you can leave the ship again without the unvaxxed to go shopping.
