We weren't overly thrilled with Sky. We're on Caribbean in March and think that will be more to our liking.
Woodside Lady Posted February 4, 2023 #27 Share Posted February 4, 2023 I'm going to run the Cruise Critic book club on our June 2023 sailing on the Sky Princess. The last time I ran the Book Club we had it in Wheeler's Bar. This time I was going to hold it in the library but clearly that is out. Any suggestions? Rare philv Posted February 5, 2023 #28 Share Posted February 5, 2023 Very disappointed there is no library. I love a good library on ship and am sad it seems to be fading.
Whitewings2 Posted February 5, 2023 #29 Share Posted February 5, 2023 We were on Sky transatlantic last March and the Enchanted transatlantic in Sept last year. No library on either, but they had a few books outside the Crown Grill. There were also games in the same area. Sudokos and trivia sheets were at customer service desk on both ships. seagypsea Posted February 5, 2023 #30 Share Posted February 5, 2023 The Sky seems to be rotating homes for books and sudoku, etc. Last November there was a small book exchange at the end of the guest services desk for a couple of days then it disappeared. Last month I accidently ran into it in the future cruise area while dropping off an FCC and just looking around. There were 3 books in Dutch and a copy of Canadian Living.🤣 But that's where I found Sudoku.
Rare TracieABD Posted February 5, 2023 #31 Share Posted February 5, 2023 Just got off the Sky. Nope. No library. Sudokus at Passenger Service Desk. Games and tables in the Crown. I never did see a book exchange.
on cruise control 1 Posted February 23, 2023 #32 Share Posted February 23, 2023 No library on the Sky. So sad. I don't do Kindle (and have to worry about battery power) so I need my hand-held books. Give me the Pacific Princess any day with its elegant library and I am a happy cruiser. Alas, the Pacific was sold just after our wonderful World Cruise 2020. A very sad day, indeed. Also, it's backlit so I can read at night without bother my wife. Also, it takes up less space when traveling. I fought against using a Kindle for years. Always preferred a real book. Now the arthritis is so bad in my hands that reading for a couple of hours is painful to hold that book. Bought my first Kindle last fall, and I could kick myself for waiting so long. Such a pleasure to use, and my hands dont ache from it. I also love being able to download a new book in two minutes. Love the fact that it is backlit, and takes up so little space. And it holds more than a thousand books! No worries about the battery power, it lasts so long, and charges up so quickly! I load 25 or 30 books from my library onto my Kindle or from Hoopla onto my tablet or phone as I never know what I will want to read once I get on the ship. How much would that many books weigh if they were "real" books. DON

I see you are from Bethel Park. I graduated from BPHS in 1972.
