Problems with Carnival online check in

Recommended Posts

Wondering if any prior Carnival guests with future cruises scheduled have run into the same problem I am having with the "online boarding pass check in" on the Carnival website

Specifically, when I started filling out the pass form pages for my party for our upcoming cruise, everything when fine until I got to the one for my son.

I filled out all his guest info (date of birth, SS number, phone, etc), and hit the "continue" button, but the same page came back with an error message stating "We are unable to confirm your past guest status. Please select the 'No' option in the Past Guest Info section to continue. To confirm your past guest status contact 1-800-CARNIVAL."

Now, if one follows these directions (as I stupidly did!) and selects "no" and hits "proceed," the system ends up classifying the "no" respondent as NOT being a prior guest. Every attempt to go back and re-edit the pass to state "prior guest yes" ends up resulting in the same error message.

I called Carnival and confirmed that my son is indeed in their prior guest database with the same name, date of birth, SS #, address and phone that i used when I tried to register him.

I also spoke to the "online boarding pass" support area, and they were pretty much useless. Their work-around? "if you can't get the system to recognize him as a prior guest, just complete the pass anyway stating "no", and after you check in and board, go to the service desk and ask them to change his record to "prior guest."

I find that incredibly annoying -- what is the point of "checking in" online in advance if you have to SUBSEQUENTLY stand in line AFTER boarding to fix problems with the online system?

Not impressed - and wondering again if anyone else has run into this or has suggestions. Thanks!!!!!

Yep -- there seems to be quote a few glitches in their system. I also had the same problem, and was told several lame-o answers from the reps at Carnival. IE: just press yes and it does not matter if it says no. Um... another good one, are you sure you are a past guest?

Finally I reached a really nice lady who knew what she was talking about. She entered the past guest number into my reservation, and presto... 1 day later it showed me as a past guest. Try this -- I think you will have to actually tell them what you want though, instead of thinking they may know what to do icon_wink.gif

I agree about the website check in. We tried this unsuccessfully different times before our last cruise, finally gave up. It would let us get so far, and everything was entered as requested, but it gave an error message on our sail date. Very difficult to use, Carnival needs to make some improvements.

I had the same problem and the lady told me the same exact thing about taking the number there with me!!! I will call and I don't want the hassle at check-in either

We had the same problem. I completed the funpass but wasn't able to print it - also got the red X. When we went to check in, the man who makes sure you have all your docs asked if we had a printout of our funpass and I told him I couldn't print it. He said, "that's ok."

I also wasn't able to link my past guest number with my reservation. When I went up to check in I told the lady that I couldn't input my past guest number and she said, "that's okay, it will be in the system." Don't know if it really linked or not. icon_rolleyes.gif
