CruiseHealing Posted February 4, 2022 #1 Posted February 4, 2022 (edited) When Latitude Margaritaville announced their first subdivision development in Daytona Beach in 2017 we visited the first week the Welcome Center opened. It was such a creative idea that I considered it to be a marketing gimmick that may not stand the test of time. We live in Jacksonville and decide to stay in the area and passed up on the Margaritaville concept. Now they are creating a cruise line. I do not think this company is a gimmick anymore and it will be a significant player in the cruise industry. As they add to their fleet the big 3 cruise lines will have to raise their performance to compete with them. This will enhance the overall cruise line business. So here’s to the Margaritaville At Sea Cruise Line, we will sail you soon! Edited February 4, 2022 by CruiseHealing 3
Aplmac Posted March 28, 2022 #2 Posted March 28, 2022 Has this come to fruition?? As an aside, we're expecting a Margaritaville, here in Barbados along the Hastings, South coast-line ... sometime in the medium-term future, which is why this caught my eye. This is the chosen site, although nothing's started yet.

Incongruous or not, our economy welcomes the investment and the jobs created, and I'm sure we'll assimilate nicely! Only one big Corp. didn't make it here:MacDonald's closed after about 2 years! 1 1

Macdonalds failed in Barbados for two reasons that we the public can figure out: Barbados is a chicken-centric nation, and MacD's plastic-beef offerings didn't go down well. I don't think they realized the chicken-centric bit. A successful local fast-food chain had (and still has) local Gov't. in its back pocket, and they succeeded in making life difficult for MacDs, which didn't help... 1 1
donaldsc Posted April 8, 2022 #7 Posted April 8, 2022 Sort of hard to get excited about a line that has just a single 30 year old ship and that plans to do only 2 night cruises to the Grand Bahamas. DON
Jax129 Posted April 9, 2022 #8 Posted April 9, 2022 just heard about this cruise line & I'm excited, although I know absolutely nothing about it

WCB's reports on their cruises on the HAL Message Board have mentioned chicken being prevalent as a desired food when they have visited Barbados. Why chicken? If you are able to offer a possible reason. 1

If you are able to offer a possible reason. Lowered meat cost could be one reason. Chickens are quick and easy to rear. Cows take awhile. A bit of history When Mr. Heal opened the very first KFC in Barbados -early 1970s- it was set up at Hasting(where I see it near-daily) and we were told, the next year after it started, that KFC Hastings had accomplished their Record Sales that year, worldwide! 1

Thanks for your reply. Regarding the livestock, the reason makes sense. As an investor in YUM, I hope your countrymen keep up their preference for KFC. (I think their products are better than their competitors. Love their biscuits, but, the packets of Honey have been replaced by packets of "Honey Sauce" where I live. Don't like that.)

The range of KFC products available on the island is not like your extensive list Stateside. We don't get biscuits for example, but we do get Popcorn Chicken which is our preference on those Just Say No To Cooking nites! 2

My mother was the big KFC fan in our family [we even considered having her post-funeral repast catered from them, but the 'church ladies' took over with their casseroles!] She preferred the 'keel,' which I'm not sure they offer any more as it used a whole breast for one person. 2
