hkbragg Posted February 6, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2022 Just thought some people would want to know that I resubmitted my stock OBC request 2 weeks ago. I read on here that some people were getting theirs recently after many of us had been denied. I had originally been denied about 2 months ago. I resubmitted the request on Jan 24 and got an email this morning that the credit was posted to my account. So if you got a denial, you may want to try again.
floinnc Posted February 7, 2022 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2022 Same thing happened to us! Yes, if they turned you down, wait a few weeks and submit again.
CanWeGoYet? Posted February 7, 2022 #3 Share Posted February 7, 2022 Thank you! I have been doing this for a long time, and this last booking was the first time I was ever told I had submitted it too soon and needed to wait until - I forget exactly - maybe some time in March when they renew the OBC. Will give it a try.
PekingeseLady Posted February 7, 2022 #4 Share Posted February 7, 2022 (edited) Would I get my shareholder obc on Free Cruise, casino offer? I haven't turned it in , I was thinking I would be turned down . Edited February 7, 2022 by PekingeseLady

I haven't turned it in , I was thinking I would be turned down . You might - I know some others have. Technically the rules state that they don't give the credit on discounted fares - but that's basically every fare. They all end up having a code when booked. Ours was a VIFP code, but we booked it 2 years ago and it wasn't ridiculously cheap like a casino rate. When I submitted my first request in December for our cruise this month, we were denied for having a discounted fare. I understood that they needed to make up money and let it go. But after seeing recent posts here about people with $30 casino fares getting the OBC recently, I decided to try again. I'm glad I did 🙂 1
pinto18 Posted February 7, 2022 #7 Share Posted February 7, 2022 Dang...we were denied for our upcoming cruise ( it was one with the cheers promotion , not that discounted) ...decided to sell. Maybe should have held on to them .
Rare ontheweb Posted February 7, 2022 #8 Share Posted February 7, 2022 (edited) It looks like either it depends on which employee gets you request, or maybe they are reverting back to the way it used to be. Maybe the negative feedback from denying the credit to those who book at discounted, but available to everyone, rates is having an effect on the bean counters. Rare AtSeaWithChris Posted February 7, 2022 #13 Share Posted February 7, 2022 (edited) For cruises after June of this year you have to wait, until some time in march, for the benefit to be renewed again or not. The email is shareholders@carnival.com. You will be denied if you send a request in for a cruise after June until they formally approve of the benefit,. Thanks From Carnival FAQ We can now accept shareholder proof via email at shareholders@carnival.com for those with over 100 shares looking for their extra onboard credits. Again, please remember to omit/cross out your account # prior to emailing their proof. •$50 on board credit per stateroom on any cruise of 6 days or less •$100 on board credit per stateroom on any cruise of 7 to 13 days •$250 on board credit per stateroom on any cruise of 14 days or longer 1
slimknyzer Posted February 8, 2022 #17 Share Posted February 8, 2022 We are so close to sailing (4 days) that to resubmit may be useless. We are still disappointed for the denial as we have been Shareholders for a long time and never had this issue before.
hkbragg Posted February 8, 2022 Author #18 Share Posted February 8, 2022 It took just about 2 weeks to get mine back. You can try and they may credit you after the cruise. They must have gotten pushback from all the denials. I did understand they needed to make up some money, but I did feel like if they were gonna deny everyone they should just suspend the benefit as a whole for a bit instead. I'm glad it's back! Also, I always just email guestadmin@carnival.com and attach the stock statement.

It might be a waste of time, but it is pretty quick & painless to email them a copy of the shares. Or resubmit the request you already sent. I've got a confirmation back in just a couple days. Probably won't work at this late date but you never know.
rj59 Posted February 9, 2022 #21 Share Posted February 9, 2022 I canceled several Carnival cruises because I was denied shareholder OBC, including one last week on Panorama. The Majestic Princess had a fare that was $150 more for a solo, but they honored the shareholder credit, and offer a $100 military OBC that's refundable, as well as another $100 sale OBC. I booked another Panorama for April (after seeing it in Cabo when our ship passed by), so I'll follow the advice of giving it several tries. It's a really short-sighted move to try to refuse customers a previously-enjoyed benefit who show loyalty by buying your actual stock, especially given the massive amount of debt they own and the inability to increase revenue with repeated covid waves, and with masking and omicron cancellations, it would seem they would do everything possible to get people to cruise right now. As I mentioned, the other Carnival brands aren't refusing anyone the OBC, regardless of fare price, so people have other alternatives. The same thing happened today when I read of NCL removing its mask mandate--I immediately looked at upcoming NCL cruises, since that policy gives them a competitive advantage for me.

It is truly amazing how Carnival has changed something that is designed as a marketing tool into something that pisses off potential customers to the point where they would cancel a cruise! The other lines owned by Carnival Corporation seem to be wiser and not doing this.
BigAfts Posted February 9, 2022 #23 Share Posted February 9, 2022 Right now, the benefit is applicable on sailings through July 31, 2022. As other have stated, it will likely be renewed/continued another year at the next annual shareholder meeting, usually held in mid-April.
