Thanks for our Thursday Daily, Rich.

Umbrellas come in handy in messy weather.  I only have a bit of flannel clothing but it is very comfy.  No teddy bears in this house to bring out but I am sure many Daily - ites have some to celebrate the day 😉

Love the Keane quote.  So true that today is a gift 👍 We’ve been to several places in Croatia but not today’s port.  Since everyone likes chocolate:

It’s taken me a couple of days to be able to post this but Marley’s test results are in and sadly, there is no question that he has Multiple Myeloma (cancer).  It could be anywhere - small tumours that don’t show on ultra sound, in his blood, bones, or an organ somewhere.

I could do a bunch of invasive tests and put him through Hell to see if we can figure out where it is but since there’s no cure…..right now, after talking to a couple of friends who love him, I don’t see the point.  He’s happy, doesn’t know he’s sick so why not give him quality of life and let him enjoy what time he has left?  Depending on where it is, he could live for 2 years or only for a short time.

The vet agrees with me & is investigating with oncology specialists  to see if there is some non invasive treatment that could help him besides his prescription food and high blood pressure pills but right now, I plan on giving him the best life possible.  He’s 8 which is a senior for his breed. I keep trying to tell myself this:

Roads should be clear today so I have Marley’s 2nd mother coming over while I go to the hospital to spoil him a bit.  I’ll take advantage of that to return all of his old dog food on the way to the hospital and not be worried if I leave him longer than normal 👍

Prayers for everyone on the Care list & for those that need them and 🥂 to those on the Celebratory / Shout Out list.

Have a good Thursday everyone.

Stay safe & please don’t forget your 😷

As others have said,Marley  is fortunate  to have you for his human.Hopefully he will enjoy the time he has left and continue not to know he is sick.

The first umbrella factory was in Baltimore.  It was founded in 1828 by a German immigrant, Francis Beehler. Its slogan was, “Born in Baltimore, Raised Everywhere!”  By the 20th century, Baltimore became the umbrella capital of the world, shipping over 1.5 million umbrellas annually.

We just read on CC that HA will be testing at the pier.

I hope we pass the test and don't have the fail that one member had where he was called positive but got a letter later confirming his negative status.

I started a thread this morning called "Required 2nd test at pier?"  I am trying to find out if this is a new HAL policy or just part of a form letter that arrived with the Health Questionnaire for my 14 day Panama Canal cruise departing the 13th.   Does anyone have any insights?

@kazu, so sorry to hear about the test results for Marley.  I hope he has many more years not knowing he is sick and you will not be too uncomfortable going on a cruise in the meantime.  Somehow it seems like just yesterday he was a puppy.

Good morning friends!  It was somewhere in the 30's this morning but I had four different opinions on the exact number on the various weather apps.  It is what it is!  Should be a nice day though.  We went to the gym and did our various workouts.  Still need to say my prayers for everyone.  I'm sorry to hear the news on Marley today @kazuJacqui.  You're doing the right thing in not making him go through all that testing.  He is going to enjoy every day of the rest of his life, thanks to you!

Thanks @richwmnRich for today's Daily.  Now I see three ships are in shipyards.  Hope for the future!  Thanks to Roy @rafinmdfor our updated lists.  Like I said, prayers forthcoming for our Care list.  Cheers for the Celebration people.  Roy, look into Weatherman umbrellas, they're the best though a little pricey.  They don't turn inside out in high winds. ☂️ Thanks @dfishDebbie for the soup photos.  That first one looks delicious.  Love the quote of the day.  I don't own a lot of flannel but appreciate the pieces I do have, especially the flannel pajama bottoms with the darling penguins on them.  Teddy bears are so cute.  @marshhawkgood luck keeping watch over your new neighbor's house.  If you have an old umbrella lean it up against the wall on the porch on a rainy day.🌂  Or do you have a car you wouldn't mind parking in the driveway occasionally?

@grapau27Graham, I'm sorry to tell you we won't be coming to Newcastle next July 27 after all.  We had talked about it once.  We have decided to cancel our 30 day cruise which included St. Petersburg because we aren't interested in going to Russia now.  Lucky for us we went there years ago so I got to see all the beautiful sights.  Instead we're going on an earlier cruise (May 26 to June 29) on the same ship Island Princess.  So we will be getting off on the day we would have been boarding.  Trying to unravel all the plans and book new hotel, flights, etc. but that's okay.  I just wish we were going to be stopping near you as we had planned.  Some other time, okay?

Almost forgot, thanks again ladies for all the funny memes.  Nice to have a smile on my face first thing.  Have a great day everybody. ❤️

Edited to add:

I really did forget Hvar, Croatia.  No that is a port we haven't seen yet.  I love the other ports of Split, Dubrovnik and Sibenik.  A beautiful country.  We last had Hvar on June 30.  Thanks for any photos coming up!

Good morning everyone,

I'm currently in Nassau on MSC Seashore enjoying a delicious cappuccino before going to wake my husband. Today is the first day I have internet on this cruise, and I have to say that I really missed checking in each day to catch up with everyone, this forum is wonderful to keep connected with the good and not so good things going on. I feel fortunate to have found it.

@kazu sorry that Marley's blood test showed myeloma, but now you have answers and can enjoy the remaining time you have together.

To everyone else, keep posting and sharing.

Prayers 🙏 for those on the list. And I'll toast the celebrations with some processo ( MSC is Italian after all) this afternoon. 🥂

Good Morning from a cool but sunny day at the beach

The quote is a good one.  The soup looks really good, may have to give it a try. Never been to todays port.  Umbrellas are great but sometimes can be a real nuisance, especially if there is wind.

@kazu Jacqui, I am so sorry to read about Marleys diagnosis. Our beloved golden had the same thing and we made the same decision as you. He was never sick until a few days before he passed. Even then, he kept trying. He had it for close to 2 years.

Another rocket launch this afternoon. This is a new company that is trying to build smaller rockets. Hopefully it will be successful.

Stay safe and enjoy today

Good morning! We’re pretty close on today’s meal of the day. Have the crock pot going with a ham, vegetable lentil soup with Kale for tonight’s repast.

Teddy Bear? Still have my original that has somehow survived over the years. In fact it’s still gives a weak grrrr when turning it over. They don’t make them like they used too.

Jacqui, your furry family have been regular members of the CC boards for years. Sad to hear about Marley’s diagnosis and I firmly hope you have extended comfort from his presence.

Didn’t sleep well last night and maybe it was because the body was busy shedding more weight! Not easy loosing 13 pounds but mainly it’s just no fun but sometimes necessary. With 25 days of cruising coming  up followed by 3 weeks in Kauai the struggle will surely continue.

Thanks Rich, Roy and to our food and beverage editors for today’s Daily! Also for some funny postings.

Enjoy the day and Happy Birthday to our  two year old granddaughter Tilly. Your a sweetheart!❤️

Good Morning All,

From the Land of Howling Winds. Sometime during the wee hours a santana (strong wind storm from the east -high pressure) started.

@kazu So sorry to hear Marley’s results. We would do the same. Our beloved Tioga likely had sarcoma for his last 2 years (#13 &14). A liver US was suspicious, and bx was negative (likely false negative.) He was on tramadol & an anti inflammatory for spinal arthritis, so his life quality was good. He snoozed a lot, played a lot and enjoyed family time- and snuggles. Had the bx been positive, we likely would have done treatment, which I don’t now think would have been best for him. Or our family.
Hoping Marley has lots of good times ahead.

@dfish The soup sounds great. It’s going in my file for a cold day.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning everyone and Happy Thursday!  All the days are worth celebrating today and I like the quote, but will pass on the meal suggestion, drink and wine.

DS called me last night to arrange for DGD to spend the night Saturday and all day Sunday so he and SO other can go to a Super Bowl party. Kicker is that the SO’s daughter is coming too PLUS the 4 month old Husky puppy. Of course I said okay but gosh what did I get myself into?  Thank goodness the puppy is crate trained. I’ll take pictures. I’m not sure what Blue is going to think.

Jacqui @kazu, I am so sorry about Marley’s diagnosis but I think your decision is the best one. Our dog, Grisham, probably had some type of cancer but I never pursued testing, I could just tell he was sick. He lived to be 11. He ended up being totally blind for the last year or so of his life and I could tell that was the start of his decline. It took us 10 years to decide to have another dog. Now I wish I hadn’t waited because Blue is such a great dog. 🐾

@aliaschief Happy Birthday to Tilly!  🎂🎈🍦🎈🧁🎈🎊

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning. Thanks Rich and all who contribute to make this a great place to be. Sharon @Sharon in AZ, I forgot to tell you I changed my picture. It is a Captain Teddy Bear I bought on our cruise to keep me company and have someone to talk too, since I was solo so much. I left it on board for my room steward’s two year old daughter. She was a cutie and the bear didn’t pack well so it was a good match.

I hope you have an amazing cruise Sandi.

We were looking forward to seeing you both but I totally understand why you want to avoid Russia.

Best wishes.
