natanya13 Posted February 11, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2022 I am just curious if anyone can enlighten me on why Celebrity (and it may be all cruise lines, I don't know) piece meals out the refunds for a cruise. My daughter and I had a positive pre Cruise test, we notified Celebrity and began the wait for our refund. The cruise was Jan 3. As of today we have receive several partial refunds yet have still not received the total amount due. I could see a bit if it was port charges - but we did not have that many ports scheduled. Would love to hear from anyone who may have some insight. Also, is this the procedure for all cruise lines?
Jeremiah1212 Posted February 11, 2022 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2022 They are all roughly the same. Each line item you were charged, even if it has a zero amount due, is handled independently and it's mostly a manual process. Your purchase is somewhat the same way. It looks like its instant on your card because your bank has earmarked funds for the amount you agreed to pay, but in reality it is not instant either. natanya13 Posted February 12, 2022 Author #3 Share Posted February 12, 2022 Thank you. However, the only purchase would be the cruise fare. That is why it seems odd that there would be so many different refunds.
CyberTag Posted February 12, 2022 #4 Share Posted February 12, 2022 We had the same thing happen with a RCCL cruise. We were told it’s departmentalized. Makes no sense to me. Just make sure it all adds up.
