ssb Posted March 3, 2022 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2022 Hobby, it half the distance and time away as the IAH Bush. Southwest and others fly in and out of Hobby .

molsonschooner Posted March 5, 2022 #4 Share Posted March 5, 2022 I have only been to Houston once. Flew into Hobby. No issues then. Now I am looking at flights and from my area, Toronto, Buffalo or Detroit there are no non stop flights in Hobby so I think we will be going to Bush. Big plus with Bush is that it serves to many more airlines and destinations. At a minimum a 30 minute difference. Also, Bush is a huge airport, Hobby is small and manageable. If Southwest is an option from where you live, use Hobby. Use Bush if Southwest isn't an option.
Lane Hog Posted April 8, 2022 #6 Share Posted April 8, 2022 Delta and American both serve Hobby. United doesn't given they have a hub at IAH. Flying Southwest is a not-starter for us because we'd have to drive 30+ miles to an airport they serve near our home.

Those are both very large airports in which to make a connection. Laughing at having to drive 30 miles. I live in Houston and Hobby is 26 miles from my house and Bush is 42 miles. Guess it's all relative!
Lane Hog Posted April 9, 2022 #8 Share Posted April 9, 2022 (edited) I should have said 30 miles farther to an airport Southwest serves....These days, Southwest isn't that much cheaper than flying on American or Delta. I have lifetime status on American which means no bag fees plus reserved seats, so that extra drive does nothing for me. It might make a difference for someone having to check bags. The size of DFW and ATL being a concern for connecting gets overblown unless you can't walk at a normal speed. It was rare that I never had time for at least one drink at the club between flights. Arriving in Houston, though, the cost of a shuttle or ride-share to Galveston essentially doubles for IAH vs. HOU. That's a huge differentiator. Rare Illbcruzn4life Posted May 9, 2022 #9 Share Posted May 9, 2022 I'll stick with American airlines. Southwest used to be our go to airlines but since they bought Airtran prices are higher and no more direct flights. I'll gladly pay a litle more for a direct flight. crusin okie Posted May 14, 2022 #10 Share Posted May 14, 2022 We have used both and, by a large margin, suggest Hobby.
