Rare puppycanducruise Posted March 12, 2022 #5 Share Posted March 12, 2022 Good morning. Thanks for the Daily Report. I haven't studied my family tree but other members of the family are working on digging up the past. I wasn't a girl scout. I have seen some of Hitchcock's movies, but some are too scary for me. Thought provoking quote. I think I'll pass on today's meal suggestion. A G & T is my go to drink. Hope the wine is tasty too. We were in Santorini on a cruise several years ago, I'll see if I can find pictures. We've got a snow squall warning for today, windy and up to 20cm of new snow. I wish spring would hurry up! Prayers for everyone. Stay safe.

dfish Posted March 12, 2022 #7 Share Posted March 12, 2022 Good morning, everyone. We had a couple inches of snow overnight, but nothing like what was forecasted. Thankfully!! I have a zoom meeting this morning that I have to lead and then the pool this afternoon, so not a lot on the agenda. Today's meal is a homemade veggie burger. I tend to stay away from these as the ones in the store turn out like hockey pucks. They also tend to be high in carbs as rice and grains are used as binders. But, a homemade one can be delicious. This first recipe looks really good! https://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/veggie-burgers-with-zucchini-and-corn I'd have to pass on it because of the carb content, but I would probably pass on it with regret. This next one uses different ingredients besides the zucchini and corn, but looks just as good. https://www.diys.com/zucchini-corn-veggie-burgers/ If you want to skip the zucchini and corn combo, you can make a regular veggie burger. This one has sweet potatoes, quinoa, oats, and black beans. Not a lot of vegetables in it, but it is vegetarian. https://cookieandkate.com/best-veggie-burger-recipe/ Looking forward to Tana's choice. Prayers for all who need them, especially Ukraine and our Daily contributors and readers. Cheers to those who are celebrating. Wishing everyone the best day ever! 30

JAM37 Posted March 12, 2022 #12 Share Posted March 12, 2022 Good morning, Friends. Thank you for the Daily, the Lists and the Recipes. At 54 I am still debating whether or not to deal with the court system in order to receive my adoption records. I was never a girl scout, but salute them. I've watched some Hitchcock movies, but not really into him. Interesting quote. I will pass on the meal. Happy birthday to Pauline, Mitzi and Lenda. 🎉 Not much on the agenda here today. We have a family situation we have been "working" on since we got down here last month which is why we are still here. Nothing bad, but definitely has and will continue to change our lives. Once we have figured things out and know for sure what we are doing I will share. Meanwhile, if you will pray things go smoothly and that His will be done, I would appreciate it. Hoping to hear from @kazu today and that some progress has been made. Jacqui, I am thinking about you and praying for you. Any updates on Kakalena or Tana? Bon Voyage to those sailing away. Thank you @grapau27 and @aliaschief for sharing your cruise with us. @cunnorl, Charlene, I hope yesterday went well and you are able to rest today. Have a great day. 🙏 and 🎉 for those on our lists. 36

cat shepard Posted March 12, 2022 #15 Share Posted March 12, 2022 Thank you for today’s Daily Rich! Super windy here this morning and we’re under a tornado watch for the next seven hours. But the wildest part of today’s weather - we are under a freeze warning tonight. Very strange weather for us in March. Thank you for our lists, Roy. Morning Dailyites! Yesterday was crazy. I crammed all my weekend errands, a haircut and two fundraising events for the Ukrainian refugees into one day. Today, I am spending my day getting ready to have some friends over for dinner. Some more random smiles… Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Stay well everyone! ************ Owen Roe 2018 Rosa Mystica Cabernet Franc This red has excellent ratings and a decent price. Several online distributors with prices starting at $24.98. You might find it for less locally. Note: one reviewer recommended to wait until 2024 before opening. Wine Spectator 93 Wine Enthusiast 92 Bright, dark red. Dark raspberry, minerals and bitter chocolate on the perfumed nose, complicated by menthol and herbal nuances and lifted by a floral quality. Very suave and refined on entry, then smooth and floral in the middle palate, showing a tighter grain than the Union Gap blend. As much red as black fruit in character and quite seamless; medicinal in a positive way, with nuances of menthol and red licorice. Firmly constructed but reveals an essential suppleness of texture that makes it tastable already. Still, this wine’s substantial fine-grained tannins call for at least a year or two of cellaring, and it has the material and balance to evolve gracefully. My sample was even more floral with 24 hours of aeration, and I raised my score a point. Classy juice! 31 7
aliaschief Posted March 12, 2022 #16 Share Posted March 12, 2022 (edited) Good morning from Gustavia, St. Barts! After an amazing night of entertainment poolside last night we sailed at ten and two hours later dropped anchor just off shore in St Barts. The tenders are being readied. Home of the jet set there is billions of dollars of yachts anchored around us. Last nights entertainment was a 14 piece steel band and dancers in native dress and a three sisters group called Soul Sisters. Wow! They had the ship rocking with Aretha, Witney, Tina, and other Mo Town Classics. Azamara usually has an Amazing evening off ship at a special location venue but since the pandemic have been having special Azamara Destinations on board once on every cruise. When we returned to the cabin there was a souvenir pint of local rum complimentary from the officer and crew of the Quest. Morning haze is starting to lift and it looks like it’s going to be a blue sky day but the strong March winds continue. Rich thanks for The Daily and thanks to all who contribute. grapau27 Posted March 12, 2022 #18 Share Posted March 12, 2022 Good afternoon. Santorini is the prettiest and our favourite Greek island. We have been several times on cruises. It is best to get an early tender to the island and go straight to the cable car entrance as the queues quickly build up. There are some shops next to the tender drop off but the best parts of the island are reached by the cable car. Graham 38

ger_77 Posted March 12, 2022 #22 Share Posted March 12, 2022 Good morning, thanks for the Daily! I've done some genealogy research and was able to trace my family back to the late 1600's in France. I was never a Girl Scout, but certainly appreciate their cookies. Alfred Hitchcock, the master of scary and suspense! We've been fortunate to have been at Santorini 3 times, and enjoyed every visit; it's like sitting at the top of the world when you're at a table enjoying a glass of wine and lunch overlooking the caldera. I know many of you will post the pictures of the beautiful white and blue buildings, but I'll toss one in that I took on our first trip in 2004 on the Prinsendam. This is the view as we were going down the cable car to the tender area. Happy Birthday @Quartzsite Cruiser and @Overhead Fred's DW Mitzi. @JAM37 go for your adoption records, I'm pretty sure you won't be sorry. I finally got to see my original birth certificate this past year, but only after my birth mother had passed away due to the fact that she'd put a veto on my file. It gave me peace knowing that I finally had documentation to prove my heritage. Hopefully yesterday was our last day of super cold weather; it is March, after all. We had both fireplaces going and just hung around the house all day. I think I'll give today's menu suggestion a pass; I have to admit, I'm a carnivore - I like meat in my burger buns. It was funny, at dinner last night both DH and I sat down to our stew and buns fresh from the oven, we both realized it was Friday night, pizza night. I think because Monday was kind of a wash with DH's medical procedure, we were both a day behind. Well, it looks like tonight will be Saturday night, pizza night at our house! And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra prayers for Ukraine and all who are reaching out to help them. Extra prayers for Jose, Jacqui, Marley, and our dear Kakalina. We'll raise the glasses together to celebrate all everyone on the happy list, especially those who are boarding or going to board a BHB. Be safe, wear your masks when you need to, wash your hands, get your boosters, stay well, and keep warm! Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry 34 3
marshhawk Posted March 12, 2022 #23 Share Posted March 12, 2022 Good morning Dailyites! It did rain early this morning but not much, haven't seen a single flurry of snow, but the wind is crazy! The clouds are dark, and the out door Fawn cat (who has a heater on her wrapped porch)was very verbal this morning about the cold state of affairs when I let her out. We were going to go get a sausage roll this morning, but I don't want to wake DH. When he is asleep, he is not moaning in pain. Not sure if he will want to work today, but I know I have to. I looked at the pain pills the dentist gave him. Very scary possible side effects. They list two. Problems breathing, and death. I love Alfred Hitchcock films. I read once that the reason he used spider webs, was to frighten men. LOL, he said women see them everyday because we clean,, but men don't and therefore they frighten them. I also love to watch them to find the scenes when he is in the film. DH and I have a collection of them, and every two years we do a Hitchcock movie marathon. I did see that Peacock has about 10 Hitchcock films to watch in March, and most of them are ones I don't have, something to do between F1 watching. @grapau27 Thanks for the food porn. That steak looks incredible! Genealogy- well, through Ancestry I found out i have a half sister, who doesn't' want to know me, I had a half brother, and through him I have a nephew. And my biological father must have been a travelin' man because i have 100's of 2nd and 3rd cousins. But the real reason I went to Ancestry was to find out what nationality I was. Scandanavian, Dutch and Scottish. For all here you educate us, humor and love us, thanks for all you do. In regards to Girl Scouts, love the cookies, but I was asked to leave the girls scouts, and the ballet school, and the ballroom dancing classes..... 37

smitty34877 Posted March 12, 2022 #25 Share Posted March 12, 2022 Good morning everyone. It is pouring now and the temperatures are going down which of course brings the freezing rain and ice our way.Lovely. I have been fortunate to have family members on both sides who have researched our roots. I was a Girl Scout and DH and I have seen almost all Hitchcock movies a few times each. Our Tana, now given the title of Executive Household Chef, especially likes the first recipe. It will be good to make today since we are stuck inside. She is having a lot of ups and downs this week and benefits from time spent in the kitchen with rest periods. I think it is important to be able to do some of the things one used to do with modifications. @kazu, Jacqui , I am thinking of you and Jose and Marley. Happy Birthday to Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser and @Overhead Fred's Mitzi. Terry 33
