Canceled excursion / gift card refund?

I tried a few minutes ago to book an excursion, but after checking out, I noticed that they had given us an afternoon time when I had wanted an open morning time. I canceled the excursion that was paid for with a gift card but right now the system is tied up to where I can't book the correct time. ("Conflicting excursion") How long until this will clear and will the funds be put back on the gift card so I could use it to buy the correct time excursion?

If you load it on to your account on board, you should get it back on a Gift card. If under a certain amount they donate to ST Judes.  Someone needs to clarify the ammount? Maybe $10?   If cruise cash or OBC, you use it or lose it.  Your best bet on those situations is to use it in the casino.  I have been told you can cash it out in a machine but have not tried.  I know you need to play a little but you also could get lucky.

The tie up on buying the replacement excursion cleared after about an hour. Late last night, I got an email from Carnival acknowledging the cancellation of the original excursion and saying that money would be 'put back into my account' within five to seven business days. It did not clarify if that was going to be an onboard credit as nothing would set was said about putting it on a gift card.

That's because their system defaults to thinking that everything was paid by credit card.  They will be mailing you a new gift card.  Carnival gift cards are NOT reloadable.  Even if they wanted to put the money back on the gift card, it simply cannot be done (caveat - if the transaction was cancelled before being finalized, the money would go back to the card, but this is very, very rare).

just had this issue, purchased wrong item with gifted and cancelled order. call the gift card number on the website, give them the number on the card you used and cancelled, they told me they will research the cancellation and replace the card within 7 days. they do not refund to the same card
