jeepgirl30 Posted May 17, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 17, 2004 I read somewhere for each drink you can get the automatic 15% removed. I have no intentions of doing it, I just wondered how you did this? If you had to tell the server or if you go to the pursers desk? I'm NOT trying to get out of a tip, I'm just curious, honest! Imagination 3/2003 Days until Sensation... tef43 Posted May 17, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 17, 2004 I have not ever heard of this as an option. Why would anyone even WANT to? The pre-charged gratuities ($10/day) may be adjusted/removed with little problem. But those are for the cabin/dining room personnel, and has nothing to do with bar service. Vidimom Posted May 17, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 17, 2004 The way Carnival words it there is an automatic 15% gratituty on all bar purchases. This means you don't have a choice. It's just added on to your bill. I have never heard of anyone taking it off and as little as it usually is, I don't worry about it. I usually tip more than they put on the bill anyway to a bartender or server at a regular bar and sometimes on my cruises, I tip the bartender extra and find that our service is better and so our the drinks! halos Posted May 17, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 17, 2004 Yeah, the better you tip the bartender, the better your drinks are. Besides, the way I see it is these people have to put up with a ship full of sometimes obnoxious, rude, inebriated, horrid people all day every day and keep a smile. They totally deserve all the tips they can get. I believe in Miracles MIRACLE JUNE 19, 2004 Calm Seas, Good Friends
jeepgirl30 Posted May 17, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted May 17, 2004 I really do not want to remove the bar tips, I just thought it was weird when I saw it. I don't even remember where I saw it now. I consider it as part of the drink price. Imagination 3/2003 Days until Sensation...
dan40 Posted May 17, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 17, 2004 I have also read that you can tell the bartender to remove the tip. This is logical since it is a tip. But I sure wouldn't want to drink the next drink he/she fixed for somebody that demanded the tip be removed. When I find a bartender that is a REAL bartender, I tip them heavy and find out their schedule. Dan Till 9/5 Paradise Panama Canal
garycarla Posted May 17, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 17, 2004 I think it s@cks that they put it on there automatically. If they want to charge $4.15 instead of $4.00 for a drink, then DO IT. Don't play these funny games. To me, they are saying: We think our bartenders do a great job, and will do a great job EVERYTIME they serve you a drink. But, we believe you cheapo cruisers will decide not to tip them, so we are going to put it on there. So there! Of course, it you now want to add more, then that is okay to. hdawson Posted May 17, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 17, 2004 The 15% is for BOTH the bartender and the server. Actually a very small tip.
Cyt4SoreEyes Posted May 17, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 17, 2004 I agree with Hdawson..very small tip that they get indeed!!! Thats why we always tip above and beyond like we do for other crew members..they help make our cruises what they are so why not!
