dleahy4444 Posted May 23, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 23, 2022 Will be on a TA in October that stops in the Azores from 8am to 6pm. Ive never been there before and don’t know what to expect. There are a few tours through the cruise line but they seem limited. Any suggestions?
Markanddonna Posted May 30, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 30, 2022 We were just there a few weeks ago. You can do the ship tours, find a tour of the volcanic areas at the port (they usually want cash and don't take credit cards), or walk around the city. Know that there is often a fog that obstructs the view of the valleys. There are maps at the port. One very nice destination (we've been there twice) are the Gardens where the presidential palace is. It is a relatively easy walk (take a left at the port facing the town and find a street to walk on.) If you get a map, it is easy. The gardens cost just 2 Euro and 1 if you are a senior. Prices for souvenirs are cheaper at stores away from the main drag. The fort to the left of the port is also a very nice place to stop.

If you enjoy food tours and walking around the city a little, we did this on our stop there back in May. We had an excellent day with Rafael and highly recommend this tour to everyone.
