Freckles1983 Posted June 2, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 2, 2022 I just did the online health check in for my upcoming cruise and have a few questions for Canadian citizens - specifically ontarians that have sailed with HAL recently… when you are at the pier do they accept the government issued Ontario vaccine QR code online form? I noticed that it doesn’t say on that page the where and who administered the vaccines. It has all the other pertinent info. I have all my paper copies of reciepts from when I had my shots but my husband is missing one of his paper copies. On these paper copies it states where and who administered the dose. is the online government issued pdf with QR code acceptable or is there a chance we will be denied boarding due to this? anyone else been thru this before and have any answers?? Just trying to figure out if we need to attempt to get this piece of paper reprinted from the pharmacy that gave my husband that dose. thanks for any help! The easiest solution is to go to the Ontario government website and download and print your records. All of the information required by HAL will be on the download. I personally take a print with me to avoid any issue with my phone. https://covid-19.ontario.ca/get-proof/ Edited June 2, 2022 by Fouremco
Freckles1983 Posted June 2, 2022 Author #3 Share Posted June 2, 2022 So we have those certificates from the government downloaded but they don’t state where and who administered the shots on them. It said that HAL requires that info too so I was wondering if anyone who had gone on a trip already was only required to show the gov issued QR code ? ByThePond Posted June 2, 2022 #4 Share Posted June 2, 2022 The Ontario Proof of Vaccination with QR code is all that is required. Use the full pdf file either on your phone or printed out. Just the QR code itself is not sufficient as the people checking typically do not have the required application to read the QR code. 2

Ontarians have been using these downloads in their varying formats from the outset. HAL and other lines have accepted them without issue. The fact that the name of the nurse, pharmacist, etc., who administered the shot or the location of the clinic, doctor's office, etc., isn't listed has not presented a problem. 1
maryann2 Posted June 3, 2022 #6 Share Posted June 3, 2022 I had my second booster last week and after 24 hours that has also been added to my Proof of Vaccination. Great system. Like others have said I have downloaded it to my phone and have also printed out a paper copy which is in my travel bag with passport etc. Two pages now with the extra vaccine added.

In Ontario, for some reason the QR code is too limited to provide information on more than three vaccinations. So with my two initial shots, and now my two boosters, while the downloaded PDF has the information on all four shots, anyone scanning the QR code will only get information on the most recent three shots. That’s why I have kept my QR code from the first 3 as well as the QR code for 2-4. However, outside North America no one will be scanning the QR code, and info on all 4 doses is on the pdf.

mahasamatman Posted June 8, 2022 #11 Share Posted June 8, 2022 The federal government provides a complete vaccine passport with QR code. Why wouldn't you use that one?

Why wouldn't you use that one? The federal government does not provide it. Each province provides it, but it has been standardized across the country and so shows the Canadian flag logo in addition to the provincial one. It still has the limitation that the QR code itself (really only used in Canada and in some US states that use the SMART QR code) only shows the last 3 vaccinations, and if you have had 4, then the first one only shows up in the text, not in the QR code itself.

I cannot speak for Ontario, but the MB proof of vaccine is not good enough, we needed to show the Pan-Canadian PVC proof of vaccine on our Carnival cruise in March. Any Ontario proof that you get now IS the one with the Canada logo. You can't get the other one any more.
