Most airports are short handed so lines are longer too. That means you need to be there no later than 9:50. Plus a 2.5 hour drive? What time do you expect the port authorities start working so embarkation can start? Some airports in Europe won’t now admit you to the check in area until 2 hours before. Inter Europe isn’t counted as international in most places so check in doesn’t open for the flight until then.

And yes Southwest in the US used to not check you in before a certain time either. But, I’m not sure how this changes my point since 9:50 is just 2 hours before. in Rome with a 3 hour international lead we really didn’t have time to drop by the lounge even with a wheelchair escort through security and a pretty quick clearance that is no opening bags to explain batteries etc.
laurieb Posted June 24, 2022 #28 Share Posted June 24, 2022 That was Rome. Large very busy airport. This is Genoa. Nothing like Rome in terms of the volume of travelers. Or size. Huge difference…

But yes, volume could matter unless they are proportionally still short workers.
Rare Beamafar Posted June 28, 2022 #30 Share Posted June 28, 2022 We originally had our flight booked to Genoa and were resigned to having to transfer by bus to Nice, an added trip of approx 2 1/2 hours. I contacted our TA last week about a possible change of flight to Nice and he advised that it would cost an extra €503. I learned this morning that Azamara are not now charging us for the flight change. 👍😎

So, I guess we will have to endure change fees with Delta. Is the ship offering Covid tests to fly home? I am willing to pay, but their wifi is useless for a proctored test.
