fstuff1 Posted June 6, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 6, 2022 I was on Apex in both sunset veranda and Aquaclass (doing a b2b). No coffee maker. I enjoy waking up, making coffee and drinking it in my balcony in my pajamas. I dont want to get dressed and goto the spa cafe or the buffet just to get coffee. (I don't eat breakfast to cut down on weight gain on cruises.) NCL has coffee makers in their balcony cabins. Why doesn't Celebrity?
Rare calicakes Posted June 6, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 6, 2022 Probably the same reason there is no iron. Fire hazard. Vegas hotels never have coffee makers, they want you to go down, walk through the casino. Or, order very expensive room service coffee. You can bring a french press and order some hot water.

I don’t recall paying for coffee on my last Apex cruise with breakfast room service..maybe I just missed it.
davekathy Posted June 6, 2022 #5 Share Posted June 6, 2022 Glad Celebrity doesn't have coffee makers in the staterooms. Limited counter space as it is.
jwlane Posted June 6, 2022 #6 Share Posted June 6, 2022 (edited) Um, did you ask for one? They'll bring a kettle if you ask. Pretty standard for European sailings. Edited June 6, 2022 by jwlane
Rare DCPIV Posted June 6, 2022 #7 Share Posted June 6, 2022 Other than NCL, do many other lines have coffee makers in a standard veranda/balcony room? I've only been on a few lines in recent history, but the only coffee maker I recall having in the room was a Lavazza in a suite.

Upper suites have Lavaza coffee makers either there when you board or made available on request.

I know its free. I'm saying if he wants to use his own coffee, he can bring a french press. I like iced coffee. My last cruise with X in 2019, I wasn't a fan of the room service coffee. I'm going to bring a french aero press and make my own coffee the night before I want in.

This will be my first time. When we travel, we usually stay in Airbnb's which always have a coffee maker. I let my coffee cool down overnight and then have it iced. Another CC member told me about it when I was complaining about the coffee on our last X cruise( september 2019)

hrhdhd Posted June 6, 2022 #15 Share Posted June 6, 2022 Coffee makers are one more thing to maintain, clean (!), replace -- they'd be happy to bring you coffee at the time you specify in the morning. Just hang the room service breakfast menu on your door before bed. (Also, not trying to talk you into breakfast, but studies show people who eat breakfast lose more weight when they are dieting. Of course, those people don't sample everything on a cruise ship buffet, but a little fruit and some eggs will tide you over to lunch, which can then be smaller.) Rare NutsAboutGolf Posted June 6, 2022 #17 Share Posted June 6, 2022 Most Vegas hotels have in room coffee makers but perhaps not on the lower level rooms; Caesars was notorious for having an in room coffee maker but they charged you $15 for a minibar coffee kit which includes 4 pods, 2 regular and 2 decaf
Rare NutsAboutGolf Posted June 6, 2022 #18 Share Posted June 6, 2022 The OV cafe supposedly has coffee 24/7 (I've never gone late). The Spa Cafe also has it all morning long.

Rare calicakes Posted June 6, 2022 #21 Share Posted June 6, 2022 Does anyone really enjoy the coffee on X? I didn't like it at all. I had the caffe shakerato at the Bacio and I liked that, but the regular drip was not good(IMHO)

They serve proper coffee at all of the Al Bacio counters I've tried, along with some decent teas.
Cap_D Posted June 6, 2022 #23 Share Posted June 6, 2022 Coffee on Edge was drinkable. Lavazza is a decent product, and used at many fine restaurants. At least it's not GFS or Sysco brand! Fresh coffee always helps, of course. Recent room tour views of RCL showed low level suites with Nespresso pod machines. So Celebrity should do the same, but only to supplement the room service experience. All things considered coffee maker related trash, including pods, can stink and cause a mess. CHEZMARYLOU Posted June 6, 2022 #24 Share Posted June 6, 2022 I'm on vacation. The last thing I want to do is make coffee. Even with a French press you have to deal with the coffee grounds. The machines in the upper suites only make expresso type coffee, not for me. Bring me room service coffee, half and half, and real cups and I'm happy.
twodjs Posted June 7, 2022 #25 Share Posted June 7, 2022 No, not a fire hazard, but a way to differentiate between thier regular balcony and their suite offerings which have additional perks 😁. Most lines do not offer makers in thier regular cabins.
