cruiser1918 Posted June 21, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2022 We leave from Rome on the Epic on June 28. It looks like there is COVID testing available at the Rome airport. (Can't test at home since we leave a day too early for that.) Does anyone have experience with the COVID testing at the Rome airport? https://www.adr.it/web/aeroporti-di-roma-en/test-areas-at-the-airport Good experience or bad experience? Does Norwegian accept antigen tests? The language on their website was a bit vague - it said antigen tests or PCR are ok, but then said if applicable rules require PCR you will be denied boarding. Any experience would be appreciated. Also would welcome any other COVID testing recommendations in Rome. Thanks.
TrumpyNor Posted June 21, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 21, 2022 We will be in Rome for 3 days before our Escape cruise, and plan to just have a "test rapido" (= antigen test) done at one of the many pharmacies in Rome that offers that 1-2 days before our cruise starts. Rare ziggyuk Posted June 21, 2022 #3 Share Posted June 21, 2022 We're taking our own antigen video tests with us to do in over the internet in our hotel room. That failing, as a back up, tests are easy and low cost in the many pharmacy's
Twocoasts Posted June 21, 2022 #4 Share Posted June 21, 2022 (edited) We used eMed video tests. Bought them online in the US and took them with us. Took the tests via our iPad. Very easy. We also ended up having to do a test in Rome when my partner tested positive before our return flight (exactly one week before the US removed the reg...) and we ran out of eMed tests. Our hotel directed us to a pharmacy and it was easy and inexpensive. Edited June 21, 2022 by Twocoasts
ohio beach girl Posted June 22, 2022 #5 Share Posted June 22, 2022 Last July we used a pharmacy outside Termini. The free pop up tent lines were too long at Termini so we went across the street. The pharmacy had our results in 20 minutes or so. I don’t remember how much it cost. Delta airlines accepted the test result. We did not use the testing at the airport, however. kayjaypea42 Posted June 22, 2022 #6 Share Posted June 22, 2022 (edited) When we needed to take our test in Rome, we first tried using the Emed tests, but the Navica app kept saying that our tests were invalid (FYI, if that happens to anyone, just go directly to the emed website to test. Apparently, it's a bug with the Navica app.) So we went to plan B, which was to go to a pharmacy nearby. They took our tests after we filled in a form (The pharmacists were super-friendly and helpful in helping us translate the form) and then went next door for an espresso and maripozza (like a hoagie-shaped donut cut down the top and filled to the brim with fresh whipped cream...OMG...Do try to find one if you're in Rome! They're so goood!) We finished, got our negative results (20 Euros each), and that was that! Easy. No worries. Enjoy your trip! I went with RCCL (Wonder of the Seas) but it was the most amazing trip, and I know yours will be too! (Especially since you no longer have to test to fly back to the USA!)
