Dinglebert Posted July 7, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 7, 2022 Am I able to change US dollars into Euros onboard? I happen to have some from a previous Florida trip and if i exchange them her in the UK I first have to change the dollars to pounds and then from pounds to euros. Doing that loses me around 25% value. thinking as Royal use dollars as currency I may be able to do it at a better exchange onboard
Rare little britain Posted July 7, 2022 #2 Share Posted July 7, 2022 Yes you can. The rate is approaching parity at the mo though!

I got the dollars at $1.50 to the £ at the time so have benefited from the recent collapse of the pound against the dollar.

I went to the customer service desk with my dollars and asked for them to be exchanged. The rate that day was around parity. RCI only offered me 1.13 therefore having a 12% charge for the exchange. I declined. I did have $200 room credit "earned" through myvegas so rather than spend it on things I didn't need for the sake of it I just did the casino exchange which worked perfectly. Now have another $200 which I don't know what to do with!

Have no plans at present to go to the states but on the other hand a weekend in New York may be a good idea.

You could always find an American on your next cruise who will swap with you, no exchange fees for either of you then.

Don't pre pay your tips. Once on the ship add the cash to your onboard account and it will help cover the tips. Job done and no fees involved.
