Has anyone walked from the Port of San Juan to see Old San Juan? Is it a safe walk?  Or can you walk from port safely/easily to see any interesting sites from port?

Here's a link to the San Juan port of call forum.  Lots of good info to peruse.

Yes, you should use reasonable caution, but we walked it with four children.

Which port? Old Town or Pan American??

Old Town is just across the street. Pan American is a walk and through a not so nice area....not worth it. Take a taxi.

Do all Royal Caribbean ships dock at Pan American?

Pan American is where Royal's ships start and end cruises. For port calls they use Old San Juan.

Oh I'm glad to hear that! We will be stopping there for a port call, and I'd heard that it's easier to see things from Old San Juan. We won't get there until 2:00, so I don't even know what options we will have for touring. It's been about 24 years since I was in San Juan, so I have some planning to do!

Try to get off the ship ASAP.

Thanks for the tip. What would you recommend doing? We will be a party of 4 adults.

It depends on what you like.  Personally, I like the forts however check when they close.  They are US National Parks.

There are various restaurants, I don't have a specific recommendation.

Some of the other interesting sites (eg, rainforest, snorkeling, bioluminescent bays) may be too far.
