What do you love to do that everyone else doesn’t? What can you not stand that everyone else raves about?

Give me your most controversial cruise opinions!

Mine is that I NEVER sleep in on a cruise; I feel like you’re wasting precious vacation time sleeping in. I set my alarm for between 5:00-5:30 and start my day lol

Eat at the Buffet early and often (including dinner).

personally, im happy whenever i can get on the ship. i dont care at all what others like or dislike,

the concept of sailing, sitting on my balcony with a glass of champagne or an ice cold heineken is all i require. sometimes i even forget there are shows offered, and never make it to the buffet.

however, i have to admit, the devil in me does love to sit on the balcony at departure times and watch the port runners scurrying to get t o the ship before it sails off into the sunset.

and if its a sea day,or a port i have no interest in, i will sleep in and chill out. if im lucky enough to have booked a haven, we'll leisurely stroll down to their restaurant.

when  it comes to cruising, im very easy to please. i dont require anything special, just go with the flow, although, unfortunately, i'll admit i'm not as laid back and mellow as chiefmatejrk

Cagney's - The service and the food fleetwide was on a steady downward spiral pre-pandemic and has got worse post-pandemic.

Totally with this, so bad two cruises ago that I can’t imagine us ever going there again on any NCL ship.

Thing we love: not really leaving the ship very much. Last October on the Breakaway to Bermuda our entire time off the ship was walking around the port for about an hour.  Been there five times already, same with most of the Eastern Caribbean, Canada, etc. So an hour off the ship was enough!

Growing up in Southern California, I spent my wayward youth at the beach and, in my 40's, I had melanoma, so we avoid the sun deck like the plague. We do enjoy sitting on our balcony, with spf50, of course. (I always forget about watching for those pier runners, darn it!)

I go to the pool at sunrise when it's empty (see photo).

I never attend the ship's sail away party, usually held at the main pool.  I always find a place at the aft or forward end of the ship for this (see second photo).

We have ZERO interest in the Haven. Even if we got it for FREE we'd decline. Just not our style, I guess.

Frankly, I'm not sure I could hold my tongue if I heard or saw some of the crap & attitudes that I've read about on here...

Hate that everyone loves: I hate the Prima. The wide concourse deck and the hot tubs hanging off the side mean none of the balconies will have privacy... even the aft.  They could have better met the wants and needs of customers by offering a wider variety of cabin types. VR is going to require continual upgrades or it will look silly and outdated compared to home tech (just ask DisneyQuest!) An indoor pool would have been a huge upgrade when sailing in colder climates.  I think NCL is making a mistake ordering more Prima class ships.

Love that everyone hates: Spending lots of time in our cabin.

Actually, the thing I hate the most is when staff start singing to people in the restaurants. I’ve cruised on my birthday and anniversaries and we always make sure that we keep it quiet in case they start singing at us. Makes me cringe just thinking about it.

On our last cruise (our 25th anniversary) my wife let it slip just before we left Cagneys (she thought we were safe at that point). The maitre d told us to wait so she could do something for us. We had to get quite insistent that we really just wanted to go. 🙂

In four cruises, I've eaten at the buffet once. I just don't get why you'd choose a buffet over a sit-down restaurant when both are free and both are all you can eat.

This!

My husband doesn't (or won't) cook and I'm known as a good cook so at home meals aremy responsibility.  On holiday I want to sit and have my food brought to me.

We are currently on the Star and went to Cagney's last night.  My husband is a big meat eater but I'm semi vegetarian but will eat fish.  We asked the Manager if they could get me something off menu (if not I would have been happy with a few side dishes).  They brought me a tuna steak, the chef came over and asked how I wanted it cooked, the Manager came and checked that I was happy and it was perfect. We had amazing service too. No complaints at all.

Cruise ships are cesspools for covid and other pathogens. People hate me for saying it but the objective data says otherwise.

I still cruise during the pandemic, but that's bc I see covid pts in the hospital and already have a high risk of getting covid and etc. So for me, the risk is a wash.

I don’t understand the second part of your comment. Could you explain what you mean?

@Two Wheels Only is so right!

@Elsammo46 we wake up early like you, but the husband and I are in bed generally by 9...yep that means no shows, late night drinks, or any of the like. Boooooo!

Boy...do I feel like a "tramp".  I'm out carousing all hours of the night, early a.m.  I sleep in, sometimes to mid morning.  I carouse, gamble, and have been known to wake with a headache on consecutive sea days.

But controversial?  I dunno.  What's controversial?  I don't smoke.  I don't leave plates in the hallway.  I don't try to flush forbidden materials.  I don't cut line.  I try not to be a sphincter.

Maybe when the GF and I cruise together and get "feisty" we might be a little "enthusiastic"?
