4x4bob Posted July 28, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 28, 2022 Question directed at those who have just recently sailed on the Diamond. Is there a out side designated area for the crew to smoke? Such as the Grand has the rear section of deck 7 closed off for crew smoking And, if so were any of the balcony cabins affected by the smoke? I have never smoked and will not walk through the smoke filled casino's on the ship. My wife has asthma so having smoke on our balcony would not be a good thing. Thanks Bob

Thanks Bob The Diamond Princess is not set to start back up again until September of this year.

skynight Posted July 28, 2022 #4 Share Posted July 28, 2022 As mentioned, you will have to wait until she actually sails in September for an accurate answer. Since the Diamond is the same class as the Grand, I would expect that the smoking areas would be the same or very similar. I you book port or starboard cabins mid ship or forward and on decks 9 and above almost certain there will not be any smoke. I would avoid cabins on the stern and above the promenade deck starboard & port side aft.

And, we have until the 15 of Aug to make any changes, or cancel out right. Will have to discuss this with my Command Staff, the Wife. Never a dull moment, right? Thanks Bob Not sure about Diamond, but Discovery and Grand smoking was allowed on balconies for crew who were quarantined. We were Mid-ship both cruises, and crew was below us on Deck 9 and 10, with a faint smell of smoke from time to time. Just close your balcony door, and perhaps enjoy the open decks. Bob Absolutely suggest you go, the future is never guaranteed, especially these days. We were advised if there was a problem, they could move us. We asked at guest services when we spotted a smoker below us, we did not know it was crew in quarantine until guest services told us they were confined to their rooms for up to two weeks, depending on what country they came from when they joined the ship. Good idea. Just talked to the Wife. She said the same thing. The clock is ticking on us since we are not getting any younger. Bob

Bob I wouldn’t give up that room … it’s very likely you won’t have any smoke at all. We were in an aft facing suite on the Caribe and just noticed an occasional whiff. We have been on the very aft cabins on the port side and never once noticed the smell of smoke.

Bob Coming into this discussion late, but are you aware that your cabin is right over Club Fusion? I haven't stayed in this location, and I've seen opinions/experiences both ways as to whether or not it's noisy. If you and your wife are night owls, then no worries at all. If not ... well maybe some worries.
4x4bob Posted July 29, 2022 Author #13 Share Posted July 29, 2022 (edited) Thanks for that information. The wife and I do not wear our hearing aids while sleeping, so we do believe we will be OK. That is one of the benefits of reaching the Senior discount age. 😁 Bob Edited July 29, 2022 by 4x4bob 1
