Two are teachers, and the 20 year-old is in college (he is disabled and takes classes mostly online). He’s our dog sitter and house sitter. His big sister used to teach in the middle of Nowhere, and recently got a new teaching job closer to us and moved back in. We now ALSO have a RENT-PAYING dog and house sitter. The two of them are far less lonely than before, and we have less (perhaps no) guilt about the fact that we travel far more than we are home. I’m sure we will find another trip or cruise that works during a school break for all three of them before long, and we will all five have a blast doing so! We love travelling with ours too. We’ve just started going on long weekends now they are both at university and it feels so strange without them. Our youngest celebrated his 5th birthday on our first cruise and now he’s 20, and 30 cruises later, we still reminisce about his visit to the kids’ club when he indignantly informed us that at 4 he was still with the baby group 😂.

Same, I have a baggie of them here in the kitchen cabinet - I use them in baking! I break them up into chunks - chocolate chunk cookies or chocolate chunks in banana bread, yummy!

You have to remember at the time they had Cova Chocolates. (They were bing and really good). you would have thought she eliminated Lobster 🦞 night. There were riots in the street. Ok maybe I’m exaggerating. Oh yes, people were up in arms! And for a while during that chocolate-less period, as a compromise, they gave chocolate covered oreos, not every night, just one or two a cruise. That didn't last long, though. Those were great! I do miss the original chocolates though, the various flavors and colored labels - and thus, my "X" photo for my account 🤗

From the booking it was 4 hours (perfect in my mind) and was called The Traveling viking Combo (TTV-t25879007) It also says the departure is scheduled to match the cruise ship timing. I sincerely hope that you get to see the Aurora Borealis tonight.🤞🏻 That is what I am hoping for on our trip. Well I stayed up until 1:00 AM -- Nothing. At least we had an extra hour sleep last night. Our first time zone. They messed up the calendar this cruise and the Chic nights and the time change nights are all incorrect. I always have a copy of that in my Favorites for easy referral. They currently have us doing a day change the morning we arrive into Boston
Rare Jim_Iain Posted August 22, 2022 Author #1286 Share Posted August 22, 2022 Just reading @Ken the cruiser post and he has fantastic shots of the Norther Lights. Crazy - We were in bed looking out and should have looked further aft. Oh well.. Maybe tonight again. (and and hour earlier).

Rare Jim_Iain Posted August 22, 2022 Author #1288 Share Posted August 22, 2022 (edited) I need to finish yesterday's excursion - Our second stop was the Turf Houses. I was really mixed up and thinking we were Isafjordur. The little community here is far better and very interesting. They have a row of these houses. I went down the stairs and found they had all been connected together by a tunnel so they would not have to go out in the cold of winter. Rare Jim_Iain Posted August 22, 2022 Author #1290 Share Posted August 22, 2022 Parting shot of Christmas House. As an aside I was thinking it would be more of a shop for ornamental Christmas. Probably more food items, flowers etc.

gizmo42 Posted August 22, 2022 #1293 Share Posted August 22, 2022 Hi Jim, Long time lurker here who would like to thank you for taking the time to do a wonderful review. I haven't been doing any traveling since last year. My daughter, who moved back home after graduation(with her 3 cats) was diagnosed with breast cancer last November. It is a long journey, with chemo, surgery and radiation going well, with one last round of drugs that will be over in a few months. So the point of my story is after close to a year of pretty much only leaving the house for grocery pick up and medical appointments it brings me joy to start my morning “traveling” with you and Iain. Your wonderful details and awesome pictures take me to places I hope to see some day. Thank you!! Gail

All I can say is BELIEVE and keep a positive attitude. It makes all the difference in the world. My daughter had a Bone Marrow Transplant 20 years ago (the day of Columbine Shooting). Given that she was only given a year to live I consider it a miracle and lots of one day at a time celebrations. I know that parents aren't suppose to have a special one among their children but I am way more close to her and chat with her daily even if a couple texts a day while at sea.

I would say it was closer to a medium rare. Iain ordered his Medium rare and it was as rare as mine last cruise. I love it like that. They had prime rib that rare when in Eden when I was on Edge April/May TA. Enjoying reading about Summit that I will be on in December for 4th time.
