I’m thinking an Uber can’t be that expensive between the two spots?   In San Pedro the CP is sold out and Double Tree is close to $400 Cdn. I can use points at Marriott/Westin.  Thoughts?

A lot more to do in the Long Beach port area. San  Pedro is just across the bay from Long Beach, it's a short drive.

If you can get the Westin Long Beach, Renaissance Long Beach or Courtyard Downtown Long Beach, go for it. Uber isn't that expensive and DTLB has a lot to do. I probably would not choose the Residence Inn unless the free Passport bus is back because it is isolated.
