Rare northwoods2 Posted August 29, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2022 We have a Prime Veranda cabin booked (7104) for the Panama Canal westbound. This is a rebooking from a cancelled cruise for which we had a sweet 16 cabin. Now they are charging more for those cabins and have reclassed them as Deluxe. I’m trying to weigh the trade offs of being midship and cheaper ($200 / cabin) vs the larger balcony and forward. Would you pay extra for the Deluxe? WestLakeGirl Posted August 29, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2022 Is that per person or altogether? what would you do with that money otherwise? Specialty dining? Upgrade internet? Extra tips to room attendant? Only you can answer if spending the extra is worth it…..
morfred Posted August 29, 2022 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2022 Pay extra? Yes. But it is a long walk to the back of the ship.
jelayne Posted August 29, 2022 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2022 We stayed in a sweet 16 once and won’t do that again. Large balcony but still same 2 chairs and table so the extra space was useless. The walk from the cabin to the aft seemed to take forever.
Rare Essiesmom Posted August 29, 2022 #5 Share Posted August 29, 2022 Not if your choices are the forward most, maybe forward most two cabins. No view forward unless you stand at the railing . EM

Didn’t think it would be any different from other cabins where u need to be at the rail to see forward
Torfamm Posted August 30, 2022 #7 Share Posted August 30, 2022 I would want the deeper balcony for the extra shade on a cruise with weather as hot as the Panama Canal can be.
marys350 Posted August 30, 2022 #8 Share Posted August 30, 2022 Here is an old thread about Sweet 16 cabins before they cost extra. The first 3 cabins on each side have steel columns and are totally covered by a roof above. I have stayed in a Sweet 16 cabin and liked the larger balcony with partial sun and partial shade, but personally would not want one of the first 3 cabins. https://wanderwiles.com/2016/09/19/celebrity-millennium-class-sweet-16-cabins-double-the-balcony-at-no-extra-charge/
