Mountain Traveler Posted October 2, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 2, 2022 I am booked on a November Viking Oceans cruise from Barcelona and have signed up for the Madrid Extension. I understand they use the InterContinental Madrid, an IHG hotel. Has anyone earned IHG points for their stay as part of a Viking extension? Thanks! Rare FlyerTalker Posted October 2, 2022 #2 Share Posted October 2, 2022 Best idea is to check the IHG program rules. Some programs specifically exclude third party bookings, group rates and/or non-channel bookings. Some require "qualifying rates". So any past "success" others have had may be due to the specifics of that particular stay. I would tend to wager that you would not be receiving points, or any elite status perks - if only because we are talking IHG. But I could very well me pleasantly wrong. (But wouldn't bet anything on that result)
MikeyB Posted October 2, 2022 #3 Share Posted October 2, 2022 This won't answer your question directly, but on a prior cruise that included a stay at a Hilton (not an extension), my friend wanted to get loyalty points for the stay. The response from the "front desk" was no, unless there were additional charges to the room.
