NetworkGuy Posted October 4, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2022 It is rainy and a lot colder than normal here. We were wondering how cold/windy it is in Canada? Should we consider bringing heavier coats instead of jackets?

Should we consider bringing heavier coats instead of jackets? Yes. We have been to Québec, Sagunacy, Sept Iles and heading to Halifax. Beautiful sunny weather but cold windy at some points. Landing in Sagunacy was 32 felt like 29 not till afternoon warm sun. Sept Iles yesterday 30 and windy. Delayed our departure 3 1/2 hours leaving windy couldn't move the QM2. Québec Chilly to warm afternoon and evenings. But never saw rain at all. Definitely warm clothing needed even to layer. Gloves used.
Rare LHT28 Posted October 4, 2022 #3 Share Posted October 4, 2022 Layers Mitts & hat Rain jacket would also be a good idea you can layer it over a fleece jacket to cut the wind https://www.accuweather.com/en/ca/halifax/b3l/weather-forecast/49538
NetworkGuy Posted October 4, 2022 Author #4 Share Posted October 4, 2022 (edited) I am hoping it gets warmer, but just in case, I am going to bring a fleece lined water-proof jacket. Thanks for the update! 👍 Edited October 4, 2022 by NetworkGuy
GoofyCdn Posted October 4, 2022 #5 Share Posted October 4, 2022 (edited) Depends on where in Canada you are referring? East coast this time of year is lows in the 30's and 40's and highs in the upper 50's and lower 60's. That could change any day or week to be colder. Nitemare Posted October 4, 2022 #6 Share Posted October 4, 2022 Canada is pretty big. Right now it is 70 in parts of Canada and 17 in others.
NetworkGuy Posted October 4, 2022 Author #7 Share Posted October 4, 2022 Sorry, should have said, it is a cruise from NYC to Quebec City.
shipgeeks Posted October 4, 2022 #8 Share Posted October 4, 2022 In that case (as opposed to going no further than Halifax, for example) you should probably be prepared for some cold.

Ekelley8804 Posted October 6, 2022 #10 Share Posted October 6, 2022 Have the leaves started to change? We are hoping to book a Canada/New England cruise next fall and would like to try to book around when the leaves start changing. We’re in Virginia and the leaves are just starting to change here. I would assume it would happen a little earlier there?

Some lightly which shocked us so maybe by the time October progresses you will see changes more. But not on this sailing.

We live in dense forest outside of Montreal, so same "fall foliage" as Quebec City. With the exception of a few trees which always change early, the vast majority of deciduous trees have barely started to change, everything is still green.
pbenjamin Posted October 6, 2022 #13 Share Posted October 6, 2022 We're in St. John NB on the NCL Breakaway. Partly sunny, high 68, not much color in the foliage.
mexico8 Posted October 16, 2022 #14 Share Posted October 16, 2022 I live near Ottawa in Gatineau, Quebec and the trees are beautiful right now. I would say nearly at their peak as far as colour. They are starting to drop a little so mid October should be good for nice colours next year. It does vary from year to year, depending on the temperature but mid-October should be good.
