kapcruiser Posted October 21, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 21, 2022 Should I pack hair straightener in luggage or carry on?
Guest BasicSailor Posted October 21, 2022 #2 Share Posted October 21, 2022 First, we would need to see a photo of your hair to make that decision 😳
Kimd1971 Posted October 21, 2022 #3 Share Posted October 21, 2022 I’ve always packed mine in checked luggage.
Elaine5715 Posted October 21, 2022 #4 Share Posted October 21, 2022 Doesn't matter. Hair straighteners are welcome
ProgRockCruiser Posted October 21, 2022 #5 Share Posted October 21, 2022 IIRC, you might want to check the "technology" of your hair straightener - those that use a ceramic heater, like curling irons, often do not function on ship power (due to the way power, neutral, and "ground" interact).
ProgRockCruiser Posted October 21, 2022 #6 Share Posted October 21, 2022 Yep, ceramic heaters in such products can be problematic. See chengkp75's post here, for example:
Rare pirate4me2 Posted October 21, 2022 #7 Share Posted October 21, 2022 I have packed one in my checked luggage many times with no issue.
Rare MeganGC1983 Posted October 21, 2022 #8 Share Posted October 21, 2022 I’ve never had a problem with a straightener and put on in my checked luggage. Curling iron, yes, but on the next cruise, I got the same curling iron to work by putting it on a cooler setting. Don’t know why I didn’t try that previously. 🥂🍹🍺
xraymomma Posted October 22, 2022 #9 Share Posted October 22, 2022 Mardi Gras was the only ship that my straightener wouldn’t work on. All the older ships, it and my curling irons all worked. Obviously it didn’t ruin my vacation, but my hair looked ridiculous. Especially on formal night. 😂
