countercast Posted May 24, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2004 I'm working out our drinking budget and trying to see whether it's worth having coupons, etc. I like the blended cocktail drinks and I believe there is a different one on special every day?? And for $3-4??? Not fussy about the flavor, just the liquor! And I like wine but am told to order it by the bottle in the dining room and the leftovers (?) will be kept for my next visit...? Any input?? Working hard to cruise hard! Carnival Inspiration RCCL Nordic Empress Next up: Woo-hoo! Christmas on the Legend!
casidy_123 Posted May 24, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 24, 2004 when I was on the paradise last year there were special drinks of the day and they were 6.95$ and cam in a colectible carnival glass (plastic glass) and the refills were 4.95$ in the same glass. If you bought another one and didn't have the glass, becaus eyou left it in your stateroom or whatever. they gave you an new one but it cost 6.95$ because they gave you anothe glass. serene56 Posted May 24, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 24, 2004 If you want the drink of the day then the coupons will not be for you.( You will lose money as these only sell for 3.75 plus tips. But even with the coupon you can not get the speicalty glass as they cost 6.95 plus tip. (the glass sells by itself for 2.95) they do sell the drink of the day without the specialty glass) You can use the coupons and get the specialty glass refilled. Yes, you can combine 4 drink coupons for a bottle of wine in the dining room. What you dont drink will be saved for you until the next night. HOSKI Posted May 25, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 25, 2004 drinks of the day are not usually the frozen fro-fro kind, they are more like bahama mamas. I don't really care for these so I buy the coupons and get blender drinks. bob&karen Posted May 25, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 25, 2004 We love the D-O-D specials too, but - buy at least one set of drink coupons! It'll give you an excuse to sample some of the great frozen blender drinks that they have onboard. B. countercast Posted May 25, 2004 Author #9 Share Posted May 25, 2004 Okay, I think I get it; the drink of the day is less than the coupons (great!) although not a 'blended' drink (that's ok); wine is 4 coupons but is carried over; and a coupon will get a foo-foo drink in a regular glass (I'm not fussy about the recepatacle!) Is that right? Plus lots of Happy Hours - woo-hoo! We do bring wine and beer on board as well but mostly for cabin use. The undercover covert actions of hauling your own drinks around the ship takes alot of the 'fun' out of vacation for me. Thanks for the input. Working hard to cruise hard!
